Chapter 1

Her light, airy scent wafted over him and made it difficult for him to concentrate on the paperwork she was asking him to sign. Despite how conservatively she dressed, Colton Crawford often found himself distracted by his personal assistant, Alex Whitfield.

She wore no make-up and always dressed in a severely cut black pantsuit and white blouse. Her black hair was always in a bun at her neck, never had Colton seen it down. But then there were the shoes. He would get flashes of them throughout the day, and he found himself watching for them every morning wondering what she was wearing that day.

They were always six inches high raising her diminutive stature to somewhere around his chest. He was still a good foot taller than her, but he could imagine that those shoes elongated those legs of hers. Having never seen them he could only imagine how they looked. He often did, conjuring up the image of them wrapped around him wearing those damn shoes.

The shoes were a different design almost every day. She must have a huge shoe closet. Every day he entertained himself with her selection for that day. Today they were a dark red, a blood red with a stiletto heel. She had the tiniest feet but still damn sexy in those shoes.

Colton liked her little rebellion to the overtly conservative nature of the rest of her demeanor. It intrigued him this side of her that wore sexy ass fuck me shoes that clashed with the mortician-like suits she usually sported. They also were at odds with her no nonsense, efficient and plain personality. She was an enigma.

“Mr. Crawford?”

“Sorry, Ms. Whitfield day dreaming.”

“Yes, sir. This is the Burgett contract,” she continued without comment. “Standard agreement except he wants a deal for his wife as well. That contract is right here. Standard as well.”

“Not a problem,” he told her as he signed both tomes. “She’s got some great pipes on her too.”

“Yes, sir. Thank you, sir.”

“Ms. Whitfield?” he called out to her when she reached his office’s doorway.

She turned and stared at him with those huge brown eyes. He realized once again how beautiful she was despite her efforts to hide that beauty. Why she would do so boggled him, but it had to be on purpose that she put herself together like she did.

Her smooth, honey-colored skin was stretched over high cheekbones. A cute, pert nose sat atop two of the most luscious lips he had ever seen on a woman. It was a wonder that he hadn’t kissed her yet because he wanted to badly. However, she was worth more to him as a personal assistant than as a one night stand.

Which was all she would be, much like every woman in his life had been since he broke up with his girlfriend five years ago. He grimaced at the thought of his ex. What a mess that had been, a fine horrible mess.

BlackKat07: Loved the characters and plot. Unfortunately after about chapter 10 the book really needs a good proof-read - lots of spelling and grammatical errors that spoiled it for me.
