Chapter 1
The Last Guardian of Axum
Chapter One: The Hidden Chamber
The morning sun rose above the ancient city of Axum, painting the stone monuments with golden light. The city had witnessed the rise of powerful kingdoms, the journeys of kings and queens, and secrets that had remained hidden for centuries.
Daniel Bekele stood quietly near the ancient obelisks, holding an old notebook filled with years of research. He was a young historian who believed that history was not only found in books. Some stories were buried beneath the earth, waiting for someone brave enough to discover them.
For many years, Daniel had searched for answers about a mysterious legend connected to Axum. Old manuscripts spoke of a hidden chamber protected by guardians who carried knowledge from the past. Most scholars believed it was only a myth.
Daniel was not convinced.
While exploring a forgotten monastery library, he had discovered a strange map drawn on ancient parchment. The map showed a location near the mountains outside Axum. Beside it was a symbol he had never seen before: a circle surrounding a cross and a small golden key.
That same day, an elderly monk approached him.
“You have found what others have searched for,” the monk said.
Daniel looked surprised. “What do you mean?”
The monk reached inside his robe and removed a small bronze key. Strange symbols covered its surface.
“This has been protected by my family for generations,” the monk explained. “It must only be given to someone who seeks truth, not power.”
Daniel carefully held the key. “What does it open?”
The monk looked toward the mountains.
“A door that has been closed for hundreds of years.”
Before Daniel could ask another question, the monk walked away and disappeared into the crowd.
That evening, Daniel followed the ancient map to a hidden area beyond the city. Behind thick vines and rocks, he discovered a narrow entrance carved into the mountain.
With his flashlight in hand, he entered.
The passage was cold and silent. After walking deeper into the darkness, he reached a massive stone door.
At the center of the door was a small keyhole.
Daniel placed the bronze key inside.
The ground began to shake.
Slowly, the ancient door opened, revealing a mysterious chamber filled with golden carvings, forgotten scrolls, and secrets lost to time.
Then a strange blue light appeared.
A voice echoed through the chamber:
“At last, the guardian has returned.”
Daniel froze.
He realized his discovery was not the end of a journey.
It was the beginning.
