"The story is fantastic, fiction but not all of it. Googleing about santa Margherita of Cortona I learned that this saint lived in the year 1200 and something and really existed. She left a confession to two priests. All the rest is the authors immagination, which I found fantastic."
The Two Margheritas
"This is a story set during two different time periods, 800 years apart, revolving around a girl named Margherita. One during the 13th century and the during the 21st. This was the second time I read a book with two time periods and I enjoyed it. Margherita from the 13th century is born to a poor farmer who remarries after her mother dies. Her stepmother isn’t warm and therefore, Margherita is completely eliminated from the family. She grows up wanting to leave home and finding someone rich to fall in love and be married while Margherita from the 20th century is bold and filled with sexual desires. Both of them were portrayed to be smart women for their time and age. The story is slow which gave way for good character development. The plot of the book kept me going. A tale that revolves around a philosophical belief has my attention. The writing seemed a tad bit amateur but given that it’s based around Italy, you can give the dialogues the benefit of doubt as if this was intentionally written. The prologue of the book suggests the story on reincarnation and the linkage of two girls across centuries. The story seems to depict Margherita to be reincarnated although it displays the characteristics of possession according to the classical definition. We probably wouldn’t understand the entire truth and difference between reincarnation and possession but this book got me reading a lot about and the different phenomenons of reincarnation. Perhaps, this is what Uri J. Nachimson was getting at. "
