NIGHT FALLS WITHIN ME

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

A poem about the moment when pain turns into silence, sunset becomes a premonition, and the deepest wounds are the ones no one can see. The poem echoes the mood and atmosphere of my novel Summer on the River Styx. Poetry by Thoth. Territory of Anti-Noise. We listen with our hearts.

Night Falls Within Me

With every breath, the pain

breaks loose in a cry.

I do not complain... Spare me.

I still have life to live.

I do not complain... Believe me.

I know — all things have their hour,

and time will close the door

when it no longer knows our names...

No longer knows our names...

A sunset is only a sunset... and yet

I drive my doubts away.

You'd better not come near me now —

the night is rising within me.

The sky... a single burning wound.

The fire is everywhere.

I feel that God is with us —

and somehow that means trouble is near...

Trouble is near...

A sunset, only a sunset...

Again I rip my sails apart

and bite my lips until they bleed.

My lips...? What do they matter?

It is my soul that bleeds...

A sunset, only a sunset...

Again I rip my sails apart

and bite my lips until they bleed.

My lips...? What do they matter?

It is my soul that bleeds...
