Chapter 1: The New Tenant

Nicholas was waiting at the gate to welcome the new tenant who was about to move into his aunt's house. After getting married, his aunt had moved out of town with her husband and decided to rent out her house. She had asked Nicholas to help the new tenant settle in while she was away.

A few minutes later, a moving truck arrived, and a young woman stepped out.

Nicholas was stunned by how beautiful she was.

"Hello, I'm the new tenant," Lucy said with a smile.

Nicholas didn't respond. He was completely captivated by her appearance.

Lucy waved her hand in front of his face. "Hello...?"

Nicholas snapped out of his daze and blushed. He awkwardly stepped back.

"Oh, sorry," he mumbled shyly.

Lucy laughed. "Are you the owner's son?" she asked.

"No, I'm not. I'm her nephew. I'm here to help you move in since my aunt is out of town."

"Oh, I see. So, you'll be helping me move my things inside, too, right?" Lucy asked with a bright smile.

Once again, Nicholas found himself captivated by her beauty.

"Yes, I can," he replied nervously, taking a small step back.

Am I afraid of her? he wondered as he helped carry her belongings inside.

"Wow, what a beautiful house! I'm so lucky to be living here, especially considering how little I'm paying in rent," Lucy remarked, looking around with admiration.

Nicholas remained silent. He was too busy trying to figure out what was going on inside his own head.

"Where do you live?" Lucy asked, glancing at him.

"My house is nearby. Probably around a thousand metres from here, I think," he replied uncertainly.

"Hmm... A thousand metres? I see. So, that means you'll probably be around here until your aunt comes back, right?" she asked teasingly.

"What? No! I wouldn't be watching you. Why would I?" Nicholas blurted out, embarrassed.

Lucy burst into laughter. "Relax. I'm only teasing you. You're quite shy, aren't you?"

"No, I'm not," Nicholas insisted, even though his flushed face suggested otherwise.

Lucy smiled and shook her head.

"Alright, alright. Let's just finish bringing everything inside."
