Summary

# From Beijing to Beirut **Book Two | A Romantic Comedy** *She survived falling in love with a Lebanese man in China. Now she has to survive his country.* After finding unexpected love and happiness in Beijing, CJ and Elsa are ready for their next adventure: a visit to Lebanon. There's just one small problem. Elsa has absolutely no idea what she's getting herself into. Their journey begins with an emergency airplane landing and only gets more unpredictable from there. Between chaotic airports, terrifying traffic, overly affectionate relatives, enormous Lebanese meals, unexpected wedding celebrations, and a rather uncomfortable encounter with CJ's ex-wife, Elsa discovers that being married to a Lebanese man comes with a few surprises. And CJ? He's doing everything he can to convince his beautiful Chinese wife that Lebanon is a wonderful place to visit, even when circumstances make his explanations increasingly ridiculous. But behind the laughter, Elsa discovers another side of the man she loves: his modest beginnings, his devotion to his parents, and the heart behind his endless jokes. What begins as a disastrous holiday slowly becomes an unforgettable journey of family, belonging, and second chances. Because sometimes, discovering where someone comes from helps you understand why you love them. **One Lebanese husband. One Chinese wife. One country full of surprises.** And absolutely nobody can explain the fireworks.

With Difficulties

Chapter 1. With Difficulties

Police crowded the airport. Cameras flashed around a private plane standing on the runway. From outside, the scene looked like the aftermath of a disaster.

Inside the terminal, CJ and Elsa sat on a bench, each wrapped in a blanket like an Eskimo. Elsa was nearly shaking. Neither said a word.

A police officer approached.

CJ: Speak English...??

Officer: Yes. Tell me again... how did you land the plane?

CJ: With difficulties...

Elsa poked him.

Elsa: Answer the man before we end up in prison!

CJ: Ouch... I am! Officer, I have no idea. I just listened to the radio and I did...

Officer: It is amazing. That plane would have crashed.

CJ: Yeah, same as my dreams lately...

Elsa poked him again.

CJ: Ouch! What is the matter with you? I just saved us!

Elsa: You... you... before you, I never had to miss a bus... and now I am falling from the sky, CJ!

CJ: Believe me, I know...

His phone rang.

CJ: Hiii mama... eh... kifik... La la, bas ma ma3e wa2t khabrik, ken heik faj2a... Eh, eh... ma t3tale ham ana mnih... marte hon hadde... Eh ma bha chi, klo tamem...

Elsa turned and watched him suspiciously. She understood Arabic.

CJ: Eh... walla ya mama ma btzbat... 3a Lbnen? Leh? Fi chi?? Akid la2... marte ma bt2dir... Ya mama... wlik rou2e...

The camera would have pulled away as Elsa covered her face.
