The Sleeping Red Rapunzel

Once upon a time, there was a little princess. This black haired princess, who was trapped inside a tower by her grandmother, desired to leave and have both the adventure and answers she wanted.

There was the thirst of knowledge for the outside world in her and everyday she will be sitting by her window, waiting for travellers passing by. They would sometimes have conversations with her and the desire to go only increased.

One time, she met a man, who claimed to be an expert in magic, and seeing all the emotions and wishes in her reddish-brown eyes, he thought of a way to help her.

“Princess, please take this cloak woven with the finest magic in this whole universe. This shall help you do what you want.” Said the man. He raised the red hood for her to see and left it at the bottom of the tower.

Soon, he left and the princess used her long hair to go down the tower. She wondered how she could conceal her hair for it was long but when she wore the hood, her silky locks appeared to be reaching her hip.

Happily, she went on a journey to her parent’s kingdom. Danger didn’t touch her even once. Her parents were happy to see her. Twice a week, she visited her parents while carrying a basket full of fruits and presents that she always wanted to give them.

Her grandmother didn’t know of this and when she discovered it, she knew that the princess was already useless for her own plans and so she placed a curse on her; that before the sun sets today, the princess shall prick her finger, on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die.

On that day, the princess was about to go back to the tower but something called to her, whispering in soft voices and humming lullabies. She followed it curiously until she reached a cave that led to an underground room.

There at the center of the room was a spinning wheel. The princess didn’t know what came to her but she was enchanted and tempted to prick her finger using the spindle.

Unable to resist, she pricked her finger and fell down the ground. The noise echoed throughout the whole place. Her breathing did not stop for the red hood she was wearing only made her sleep.

And for two millennia, she shall be trapped and asleep there with no one to completely break the curse.
