Chapter 1

Ace’s POV

Jack, Jon, Donna, and I were on our way to Kori’s class. The hallways were buzzing with rumors about Kori being assigned a teaching assistant. Apparently, the school board assumed that because she was from another country, she needed extra help managing the workload.

"Ace, can you help me with my book?”Jessica asked, catching up to us.

She was an exchange student who popped in and out of the country from time to time. My friends were convinced she was stalking me, mostly because she always seemed to know exactly where I was every single day.

“Sure,” I replied, shrugging since I had nothing better to do before the lecture started.

“Guys, did you hear? Kori’s new assistant is hot,” Jack said, leaning into our group with a wide grin.

“How hot?” Roy Harper asked, looking skeptical.

“She’s like one of those Victoria’s Secret models. Seriously, you’ll see when you get to class,” Jack replied, nodding knowingly before jogging ahead.

Donnarolled her eyes. “Oh, please. She can’t be that hot. Guys think every single girl is hot.”

“Right? She’s probably just regular, like the rest of us,” Jessica added, crossing her arms.

“Oh, well. We’re about to find out,” Jon pointed out as we rounded the corner.

As we approached the room, we saw a massive crowd of guys completely squished into the doorway, practically climbing over each other to catch a glimpse of something inside.

“All right, break it up and get to class!” the principal’s voice boomed from down the hall, dispersing the crowd.

When we finally walked inside, I immediately noticed an extra desk set up right next to Kori’s. We all took our usual seats just as Kori walked through the door. But she wasn’t alone. Another woman followed closely behind her, and the moment she stepped into the light, she took my breath away. She was easily the most beautiful girl I had ever set eyes on.

“Hello everybody. Would you all please take out your notebooks and turn to page 298?” Kori asked with a warm smile.

I barely heard her. I was still completely frozen, staring blankly at the beautiful, raven-haired girl standing at the front of the room.

“Oh, and everyone, I want to introduce you all to my new assistant,” Kori continued, gesturing to the woman beside her. “Her name is Isabella Roth, but you all can call her Isabella.”

When Kori introduced her, Isabella offered the room a small, subtle smile. My heart completely dropped into my stomach.

“Hello, everyone,” she greeted us.

A chorus of enthusiastic hellos echoed back from every guy in the room. I could tell they were all shamelessly checking her out. But who was I kidding? I was doing the exact same thing—and Jessica immediately noticed.

“Ms. Isabella, I have a question,” Jessica said, raising her hand high.

“Yes, what is it?” Isabella replied, shifting her attention toward our row.

“How long exactly will you be helping to teach this class?” Jessica asked.

I shot a sharp glare in Jessica’s direction. I knew exactly what she was doing, and her jealousy was already written all over her face.

“I will actually be here until you all graduate,” Isabella answered casually.

“Oh, how nice,” Jessica muttered, her tone dripping with thinly veiled sarcasm.

I ignored her, my eyes locking right back onto Isabella. I knew right then and there that I was going to start loving this class, I thought to myself. And I was going to start loving her.
