Chapter 1
The heavy wooden door slammed shut behind us with a force that rattled the walls.
I stood near the window, arms crossed, staring at the dark city lights like they were the last free thing left in my life. The red bridal lehenga felt like a cage stitched around my body.
He stormed toward me. No slow steps this time. Pure fury.
“Look at me,” he ordered, voice low and dangerous.
I didn’t move.
In the next second his hand shot out, grabbed my arm, and spun me around so hard I almost lost balance. He shoved me back against the cold glass, both of his palms slamming beside my head, trapping me completely.
“I said look at me!” he snarled, face inches from mine. His eyes burned with raw anger. “You published my name. You ruined deals worth crores. And then you had the guts to slap me in front of my own men. Do you have any idea what I can do to you right now?”
I lifted my chin and met his rage without blinking.
“Whatever you want. Kill me. Beat me. Rape me. I still won’t regret a single word I wrote or the slap I gave you.”
His jaw clenched so hard a vein throbbed in his temple. One hand left the glass and wrapped tightly around my throat, thumb pressing just under my jaw, forcing my face up.
“You think you’re fearless?” he growled, voice shaking with barely controlled rage. “You think that sharp tongue of yours will save you? I didn’t force this marriage to make you my wife. I forced it so I could own every breath you take. You will crawl. You will beg. You will break.”
I smiled right into his furious face, even with his hand around my neck.
“Then start trying, bastard. Because the only thing you’ll ever get from me is hatred.”
His grip tightened for a second. His breathing turned heavy. The pure dominance in his eyes was lethal, like he was one second away from destroying me completely.
Yet I didn’t flinch.
Not even once.
