PREFACE
“I am the color red in a world of black and white.”
— Bray Wyatt
It all started in my mind.
I used to think Bray Wyatt was crazy. I thought the things he saw, the darkness he played with, were just a show. But he unlocked something in me. Now, when the room goes dark, I see the fireflies. I hear that original theme by Mark Crozer—that low, haunting strum of Live in Fear—playing in the corners of my bedroom. And I do fear. I fear her.
Yes. She became the new face of fear.
You want to know something? I was arrogant. I thought I could contain her. I thought I could control her on these pages, bind her in ink, keep her trapped within the ten chapters of this journal. But I can’t. I can’t do any of those things. She is too massive, too unhinged, too hungry. She made Sister Abigail look small. Very, very small.
You can’t stop her. Nobody can.
But I created her. And now, with no actress, no face to hide behind, she is out there. She is yours now. I have left her completely to your imagination, which is the most dangerous thing I could have done. Because now, you will see her in the shadows of your own hallway. You will hear her in the quiet. Once she is in your mind, she is impossible to get out.
“I can’t stop her,” I whisper to the empty room, rocking back and forth to a melody only I can hear. “I can’t stop her...”
But Halloween is coming. And the journal must be opened.

Wonderful chapter. And frightening. 😱
Great chapter!
