Chapter 1 The Girl he hated

The rain fell heavily as Amelia ran through the streets, clutching a small envelope against her chest. She was already late for her first day at work, and the last thing she needed was another problem.

When she finally arrived at the magnificent building, she rushed through the entrance and collided with someone.

Her papers scattered across the floor.

"Can't you watch where you're going?" a cold male voice demanded.

"I'm sorry! I didn't see you," Amelia replied, quickly gathering her papers.

The man stared at her. He was tall, handsome, and dressed in an expensive black suit. His eyes were cold enough to make her forget the apology she had prepared.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Amelia."

He suddenly went silent.

"Amelia?" he repeated, his expression changing.

Before she could ask why, he grabbed her wrist—not roughly, but urgently—and stared at the envelope in her hand.

"Where did you get that?"

Amelia pulled it closer to her chest. "It's none of your business."

His jaw tightened.

"Listen carefully, Miss Amelia. If you know what's good for you, stay away from my family."

She stared at him in disbelief. "Excuse me? I don't even know you!"

"My name is Daniel Blackwood."

Her heart nearly stopped.

Blackwood.

That was the surname written on the envelope her mother had hidden for eighteen years.

Daniel stepped closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Tell me something, Amelia. Who is your father?"

She couldn't answer.

Because the truth was, she had never known.

And judging by the fear in Daniel's eyes, her unknown father was connected to a secret powerful enough to destroy the entire Blackwood family.

PARIS IN THE DARK

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel

Silver's Second Chance

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
