Chapter I- The Holy Scriptures of the Snail
The Sacred Testament of the Grind, the Golden Eagles, and the Eternal Research
Chapter I — The First Feeding
From the Book of Origins, Verse One through the End of the First Grind.
In the beginning, there was nothing.
There were no tanks, no aircraft, no ships, and no mighty warriors to command them. There was only darkness, and within that darkness, a small and terrible creature moved.
It was the Snail.
And the Snail was hungry.
For many ages it wandered the empty void, seeking sustenance. It consumed the stars, the dust of dead planets, and the hopes of civilizations yet unborn. Yet it remained unsatisfied.
For the Snail did not hunger for flesh, nor gold, nor the blood of kings.
It hungered for Research Points.
And so, from the great emptiness, the Snail created the battlefield. It raised mountains, carved rivers, and placed upon the earth great machines of steel. It gave the mortals cannons, engines, tracks, wings, and bombs, that they might wage eternal war in its name.
Then the Snail spoke:
"Go forth, my children. Fight upon the fields of battle. Capture the objectives. Destroy thy enemies. And when thou hast earned thy reward, bring unto me thy offerings."
The mortals rejoiced, for they believed themselves blessed.
But the Snail had not yet revealed the true nature of its gift.
For when the first warrior returned from battle, victorious and weary, he approached the great altar and presented his offering.
"Behold, Great Snail! I have fought for thee. I have destroyed seven enemy tanks, captured three objectives, and survived the battle with but a single track remaining. Surely I have earned thy blessing?"
The Snail gazed upon him.
Then it gave him 125 Silver Lions.
The warrior wept.
And the Snail was pleased.
The First Commandment
And the Snail delivered unto its people the first laws:
I. Thou shalt grind, even when the research bar moves not.
II. Thou shalt never question the wisdom of the Snail, for its ways are beyond mortal comprehension.
III. Thou shalt offer thy Silver Lions, Golden Eagles, and sanity unto the altar.
IV. Thou shalt not abandon a vehicle merely because it hath been uptiered, for suffering is the foundation of progress.
V. Thou shalt rejoice when a new vehicle is unlocked, even if thou canst not afford its crew training.
VI. Thou shalt never forget that the Snail giveth, and the Snail taketh away.
And so the first warrior returned to battle.
He fought for many days and many nights. He endured uptiers, ammunition shortages, repair costs, and the terrible curse of the stock vehicle.
At last, after countless battles, he unlocked the machine of his dreams.
He approached the altar once more.
"Great Snail! I have completed the research! I have endured thy trials! Now grant me the vehicle for which I have suffered!"
The Snail spoke:
"Thou lackest 1,200,000 Silver Lions."
And the warrior screamed into the heavens.
The Snail smiled.
For it had discovered the secret of eternal hunger.
The grind was never meant to end.
And the people named this place War Thunder.
Thus ends the First Feeding.
