Chapter 1

“Ok Class I have chosen some people to be in an after school support club and if you are chosen then you are required to come. Lydia Taylor, Angie Lopez, Carlos Gonzalez, and Nathan Williams. Oh, I think I forgot someone; Pearl Mills.

“What?” I whisper to Lydia “This can’t be”

“I know right, I mean all of us earn straight A’s in school and we are the smartest in the school” Lydia says madly.

“Guys and did you notice everyone that was chosen is either hispanic or African American” Angie says as she joins in. (Bell rings)

“Class dismissed you all may go home for the day except the people who are staying after school today for the club” Ms. White says.

“Guys we can’t let this happen” I said with my squad “We must take her and the school system down. Let’s stop racism in America!”

“Woohoo!” Lydia , Angie, Carlos, Nathan and I shout.

“Whoa whoa whoa, what’s all this screaming about?” Ms.White questions

“Nothing” we all said in a monotone voice and then we giggled because we knew something amazing and great was gonna spark out of our cries.

“Ms. White” I asked.

“Yes” she answered rudely with a fake smile.

“Why are all of us in the support club; we get straight A’s and we are the smartest in the class.”

“That is something you will have to ask your principal, I didn’t make the decision”

“Then can I go now?” I didn’t even wait for her to respond and I left.

“Dr. John, may I please speak with you?” I ask politely.

“I am so sorry ma’am but I am pretty busy at this point, try again next week.” He responded. But as I walked out I saw Elizabeth Goldman walk in to his office and he politely accepted her. What made me so different from her? Is she an extra special person? I mean don’t get me wrong I have so many White friends and teacher and I love them but this frusterated me.
