Prologue

It was a bloody fight. Claws out and powers swirling in the air. Aldwyn was crouched on the ground; kneeling, waiting, searching for the exact moment to attack.

The soul reaper to the right of him ran at his side with the intention of tearing his eyes out of their sockets. Aldwyn grabbed his arm tightly and flipped over his shoulder in a flurry, though it didn't deflect the scratch that tore across his cheek down to his chin.

A growl escaped his lips when a small bit of blood was drawn through is new slit and through a red gaze of fury grabbed hold of both soul reapers before him and smashed their heads together with a resounding cracking sound. But he knew their bones would quickly mend back together.

Both soul reapers landed far off in the opposite directions; their thin shirts peeling off showing their soul reaper mark standing out across their chests. The tall one was a Human Reaper and the other one was an Animal Reaper; both dangerous and deadly.

Aldwyn's anger exploded out of him. His powers blasted out of his fingers and instantly surrounded both soul reapers. Grass grew longer and wrapped around the two reapers, holding them down against their efforts while Aldwyn continued his work. His eyes glowed bright blue like lightning stark against the darkness of a storm.

Something odd was happening. Aldwyn's powers were going beyond the point and entering into the bodies of the soul reaper who growled and fought, but Aldwyn was listening or caring.

The power he welled turned its shape into a hand and wrapped tightly around their souls. Aldwyn started to turn a bright blue colour when he finally yanked their souls out from their bodies in a flurry.

The souls floated toward Aldwyn and entered him while the two soul reapers remained lain there lifelessly.

Light exploded surrounding him. He felt something erupt inside himself; a feeling he couldn't distinguish. The sensation was as if he was falling off a tall cliff and couldn't be stopped; couldn't control anything.

A loud scream broke out from his body that appeared as minuscule as a fly. He laid there on the soft grass gasping for breath. His eyes wide with an unusual look; extremely so, in fact.

Then, it ended. Just like that - as if someone had snapped their fingers, and everything vanished at once.

Aldwyn sat up, scanning the area with an urgent gaze. He blinked, feeling an unfamiliar taste appear in his mouth. He shifted his position from the ground to standing, and his legs wobbled a bit with the strain. He felt a pain in his full body as if he was working out for hours on end. He let his eyes wander around until they landed on the beaten soul reapers. Aldwyn winced to himself, no discernible reason given.

Out of thin air he heard a low chuckle. "Well, well. Another Whitfield finding himself in trouble."
