Introduction
The Empire: Book IV
This is my interpretation of how Book IV might have unfolded. After helping capture Belatona, Eragon struggles with the emotional cost of war, the loss of his mentors, and the growing responsibilities placed upon him as one of the last free Dragon Riders. As the Varden continue their campaign against Galbatorix, old wounds deepen, new alliances are tested, and the mysteries surrounding the Riders’ past begin to take on greater importance.
At the same time, Eragon’s friendship with Arya slowly begins to change as both of them confront grief, duty, and feelings neither has been willing to face. With the war moving toward its final stages and the future of Alagaësia hanging in the balance, Eragon must decide what kind of Rider—and what kind of man—he intends to become.
