"The Vendeleer Brothers is a fantastic ride shrouded in spectral mystery. With sweet plot twists and dead ends not really dead, it features a story with a dark and murderous plot plaguing a city of restlessness. If the crimes of the living and dead are not solved, their road will certainly lead to doom. Each protagonist to join the investigation makes clear of their crucial part in the “Who-the-freak-dunnit” that will keep them, (and perhaps the reader) guessing to the last chapters. I believe this is a welcome opening to what might be the best detective series I’ve read, and I know it can only get better in the following novels."

The first in The Vendeleer Brothers Series is almost there!
"For amateur writing, this book was really good. With some editing and some fine tuning, I think this book has a lot of potential. The plot was easy to follow and there were enough twists and turns throughout that it kept the reader's interest. I do think it was a little rushed in places, since intense moments and big events seemed to pass in just a short sentence or two. I think more details and drawing these scenes out more would add to the experience and help the reader feel more immersed. I also think that adding a side plot would be benficial to help break up the constant events happening in the main plot. I might consider a romantic interest or a little more time spent getting to know townies might help the story be more relatable and break up the intense moments. It will also help the book feel longer and more like an adventure that would take the month or so that this book took place in. A few small notes as well. It would be helpful to indicate who is talking unless there are only two people present in the scene, as when I was reading some dialogue it was not always clear who was saying what. As well, try to avoid using the - between words, as it makes it difficult to read. If you want to portray that words are said quickly or in a certain way, try to illustrate this using descriptors for the speaker, such as he said shortly or she added quickly. Lastly, I would recommend keeping character names different enough that it does not get confusing. The example of this that was in your story was Carolyn vs Caroline. Both were ghost girls and dead daughters, but they were separate characters with separate fathers. Overall, this was a very good read and I look forward to reading the other books in this series. I hope to see an updated version of this one out with completed editing, formatting, and revisions.
