Another great story of the Vendeleer Brothers
"Just like the first book, the author quickly grabs your attention and keeps you interested in the plot and the lovable characters. I love how each character has their own distinct personality and it really shows through when the perspective shifts to each one. A couple small critiques: - I think this book would benefit from being a little later in chronology in the series. I think the characters need to be built more and their stories fleshed out a little more before introducing them into an official team dynamic as seen at the end of this book. Having more suspense to lead up to Joey's past by hinting at it in at least one more preceding book would help pique more interest, and developing Joey's story further before revealing her tortured past will help the reader feel comfortable looking past her transgressions. I also think that giving Roderick a little more time battling with his trauma before coming through it and healing would be a good character arc. A book between the first and this one might be beneficial to show more about how his experience is Pinnacle Gulch has shaped his trauma responses. - I felt this book was a little more hasty than the first book. The plot felt a little too fast, and the "Big Bad" was revealed very quickly. Leading up to it and having a little mroe suspense leading up to Elizabeth's reveal would have more of an impact on readers. I am in no way saying the plot was bad! This was a great plot and I liked that the Genie seemed to be a red herring before the real villian was revealed. And using a little boy as the catalyst for the whole plot was very well done. Overall, once this book has been edited and fine-tuned, I can see this being another great success. "
