Chapter 1

He turned on the computer, and her mesmerizing green eyes stared back at him. Echo didn’t know he watched her through a hidden camera. He spent years planning for this moment, planning for her demise. This stunning creature in front of him ruined everything. Now was the time for payback. He checked on her every day for three weeks to see how far she deteriorated and watched as those alluring green eyes continually faded into madness.

Today, he was astonished to see dark circles surrounding her eyes. He smiled to himself, seeing the progress in the short three weeks excited him. The time drew closer. His revenge and the anticipation of her agonizing death pleased him, but he needed to be patient. There were more pieces to this puzzle.

It was a shame no one else understood what he did. He had help. The four of them swore after she and the other one were dead, they would never speak of this again. Those sickening green eyes would haunt him no longer. As her end approached, he recalled the last time he gazed into those alluring green eyes. She was telling him to trust her, but trusting her had been his downfall. Those green eyes hid the lies and deceit deep within them.

He made the perfect plan. No one would ever suspect him or the others of their involvement. It was too easy to set Echo up. She asked for it. You don’t betray your partner. You don’t betray those who put their trust in you. It took almost three years to put the plan together and another four to enact. She never saw this coming. Sweet innocent Echo, who believed there is good in everyone. Echo did not understand some people, when pushed, gave all the good over to evil. That’s what he did. Echo drove all the good out of him the day she put her plan into motion, the day she chose the good over him. He dreamed for years about killing her. He could have ended it all six years ago, but his co-conspirators convinced him this is the best way. They were right, this was much more amusing than putting a bullet in her brain. As an added bonus Echo’s beloved partner would watch helplessly as the love of his life descended into madness, fueled by an unbelievable hatred for the man she loved.

He trusted no one after her betrayal, not his friends, his enemy’s, not even himself. His revenge was beyond his control and the anticipation of her death excited him. He smiled again to himself. No longer would the death of her green eyes be his obsession.
