Preface
It all started with a book. ‘It’s a good find’, my sister would say. Over the years, I acquired a taste for a good mystery, an adventure of a lifetime, and made friends where I least imagined. Reading opens a whole new world in front of you, and as cliché as it sounds, it ignites your imagination.
I used to think reading tales of distant times and people was my mild obsession, but now I can see it was just a vehicle for my passion – writing. Writing is as close as I can get to magic, because there is simply no better way to explain the true power of properly stringed words into a story. Stories so engaging and realistic, they steal your imagination for hours, leaving you breathless ’swiping’ at the bright screen, chapter after chapter, in the wee hours of the morning (or night).
I am often asked how I started writing. Honestly, there was no Aha-moment, no big revelation. I simply love werewolf stories, but sadly at the time, I couldn’t find one that did not revolve around a cliché, or a teen. While those stories gain traction online, I am well past the age of being interested in a teen-drama. So I decided to write my own werewolf story, where the main heroes would be well passed teen-age, heroes that I could relate to, heroes I would enjoy reading about. Sure, there would be steamy moments, just like in real life, but the plot twists and characters would keep me coming back for some more. Little did I know, my first book (The Change) would be read over 18 million times. That’s 18 with a boat load of zeros. I still can’t believe how much love and encouragement I had received from all of my awesome readers.
So when some of you asked me to share tips on writing, I decided to set up this book to give back to my fellow writers, to help our community grow strong, and to hopefully inspire someone to take the pledge, and dive deep into writing.
I assure you, it would be the greatest endeavor you have ever taken.
