Chapter 1
{Jungkook POV}
So what if we are both guys and we want to go get lunch. We are friends and we haven’t seen each other in a while. We meaning myself, Jungkook, and my friend Yugyeom. We were born in the same year, 1997, and we’ve known each other since grade school. But university has been getting in the way of us seeing each other.
I was sitting in a metal chair outside, waiting for Yugyeom, under the shade of a umbrella. I already ordered a drink, a simple pink lemonade, and sipped it on it quietly as I looked around for Yugyeom. He is always late when we see each other, it just a normal for him. It wasn’t hard looking for him, since I knew he is really tall, taller than myself and I’m 5’10”. He is 6 foot. Also the fact that we look almost similar, except for hairstyle and height. It was almost like I was looking for myself. We both admit we look like each other.
Moments later, after downing my first lemonade I finally spotted Yugyeom walking towards the restaurant, wearing a pair of shades. I waved at him, making sure he knew where I was, and when he saw me, a smile lit on his face. I got up from my seat and walked to him where we immediately hugged each other.
“Jungkook,” he said excited, as we hugged.
“Hey, Yugyeom,” I reply pulling away from the hug. We both had smiles on our faces.
“It’s been so long, when you told me you wanted to hang out, I was shocked,” Yugyeom began as I escorted him to our table. We both sat down before I replied.
“Why? I can always save room for seeing my best friend,” I explain him patting his upper arm.
He shrugged, “I thought you would be busy with your studies,” he replied.
I considered his suggestion and replied, “Studying isn’t really my thing,” I tell him which we both laugh at.
“Yeah same here,” he tells me as he sits back in his chair.
Before I had the chance to continue the conversation our waiter came to the table asking for Yugyeom drink order.
“Oh, I’ll have whatever he’s having,” he told the waiter gesturing to me. He smirked at me when I looked at him.
The waiter nodded his head, noticing my empty drink glass. “Would you like a refill, sir?” He asked me.
I turned my head towards the waiter and nodded my head, “Yes please.”
He bows slightly and walks off inside towards the bar.
“So how has school been for you?” I asked Yugyeom.
He crossed his legs and heaved a sigh, “Okay I guess. It’s boring because I don’t have you around, but I’ve adjusted.” He replies looking sadistic towards me.
He’s adjusted? He’s already use to me not being there for you? I scratched my head before replying, “Same here.” Is all I said back.
“What do you do in your free time?” He asked me, leaning forwards, just as the waiter brings our drinks. He takes a sip of his lemonade.
I shrugged, “Nothing much. I work out, go to the beach, go shopping, hang out at my dorm. That’s pretty much it.” I tell him nodding my head slightly. “What about you?”
He smiled, “Well pretty much everything you do but I also go to parties some of my dorm neighbors host,” he explains, which makes me intrigued.
“Dorm parties,” I question him.
He nodded, “Some boys, and sometimes a girl. They’re pretty much everyday, so when I don’t go, I can’t sleep until like 3 am.” He complained with a small eye roll.
I raised my eyebrows in shock, “Wow, that honestly sounds awful.”
“It more fun going to the parties rather than listening to them on the other side of the wall,” he says which makes me snicker.
“I don’t really go to parties since for one I don’t find out about them until the next day after the party,” I tell him which makes him laugh.
“Wow, do you have a life?” He asked which made us both laugh.
I just shrugged. “It depends on what I’m doing, for your information I have more instagram followers than you so that must say something,” I remind him taking out my phone and pointing at it.
He raised an eyebrow, “how does that have anything to do with anything?”
“Just goes to show how much more popular I am, afterall I am the handsome one out of us,” I say confidently.
Yugyeoms reaction to my words made me laugh hysterically. He gasped loudly and punched me from across the table. “We look identical though,” he says back, crossing his arms across his chest.
“We both know I’m visuals, your personality.” I remark gesturing to myself then to him as I spoke.
“Whatever, hyung.” He says back with a small click of his tongue.
I laugh.
“Hey, have you met any girls?” He asks me after a moment of silence.
I shook my head shyly. “No,” I say quietly.
Yugyeom looked unimpressed. “Seriously.”
I nodded hesitantly.
Just as he was about to reply, our waiter came to us to get our orders, which reminds us we haven’t even looked at the menu yet. I quickly ordered something off the top of my head, and probably Yugyeom did so too. After the waiter left, Yugyeom picked up where we left off.
“Jungkook, you’ll never get anywhere in life if you don’t open up, it doesn’t even have to be towards a girl, I know you don’t have any friends at your university,” he says leaning towards me.
I gasped softly, but bit my lip, knowing it was true. “How do you know for sure?” I asked him pointing at him.
He smirked and sat back in the chair. “Well, for starters, you’re instagram pictures only showcase you, and since you post everyday, you’re never with other people.” He says which breaks me.
“Okay, you got me there,” I reply throwing my hands up in the air.
He sneaks out a laugh, which made me scoff. “Do you have a girlfriend?” I asked mockingly
He laughed again and shook his head, “No, not yet.”
I tched. “Your one to talk, hyung.” I say waving him off.
He laughed yet again and shrugged. “Well it doesn’t help that all the girls in my university are party crazy people. If I had a girl I would want a girl who is quieter and caring, but I don’t mind someone with a little bit of a wacky personality,” he explains which makes me interested. “What about you.”
“Aish, I don’t know,” I say rubbing the back of my head. “Maybe someone who is good at cooking and is nice? A good singer? Honestly I don’t know,” I reply truthfully.
Yugyeom clucked his tongue and sighed. But suddenly the sound of giggling distracted us from continuing our conversation.
We both turned towards the sound of the giggling and saw as two girls started off towards a table a few tables away from ours. One of the girls caught our attention. Honestly she was beautiful. She was tall, after all she was wearing heels, but without them she’ll be shorten than myself. Her hair was simply down and flew in the breeze. I looked at Yugyeom, who was also staring at the girl. The girls friend went inside and it was only the girl sitting at the table. I followed Yugyeom gaze, but it never left the girl at the table.
We were both looking at the girl. Eventually the girl noticed us staring at her, and she looked at us, not confused as to why we were staring at her, but she was smiling. The smile made my cheeks grow warm, and I grew shy, looking away towards my hands in my lap.
“Aw, c’mon,” Yugyeom bursted out which caught me off guard.
“What?” I snapped back looking up at Yugyeom, my cheeks still feeling warm.
“Don’t tell me you’re still shy around girls,” he asked me pointing at me.
I furrowed my brow. “I thought we established this before,” I say folding my arms.
He did a quirky smile. “Yes, but seriously, hyung.” He says tilting his head annoyingly.
I shrugged, looking away, towards the girl who wasn’t looking at us anymore and was now joined by her friend.
After a moment of silence between us, I looked back at Yugyeom who was wearing a mischievous grin.
“What is it now?” I bellow throwing my head back.
His smirk turned to a smile and he leaned forwards towards me, first looking at me then at the girl sitting tables away from us. Nervously, I bit my lip.
“I’ll give you 50 buck if you go talk to her,” he says with a small tilt of his head.
I scoffed and threw my hand to my face, resting my head on my fist. I looked at the girl, and back at Yugyeom.
I pretended I didn’t know which girl he was talking about, “Which girl?”
He gave me the I-know-you’re-lying face and replied, “Oh, every girl sitting around us, no the girl we were looking at earlier.” He said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and heaved a sigh. He knows I’m super shy around girls, I can hardly look one in the face, which probably goes to show my social life.
“Which girl where you looking at?” I questioned, even though I knew exactly which girl he was looking at.
He laughed, finding my questions entertaining. “The girl in stripes.”
I closed my eyes and started making complaining sounds, as if I was a four year old all over again. He just laughed.
He was waiting for an answer, beginning to take out money out from his wallet. “I have the money now,” he tells me showing me the 50 bucks.
I sighed and rubbed at my head.
“C’mon hyung, stop being a drama queen, go and talk to the girl. It’s not that hard-” he started but I swiftly interrupted.
“Fine! But if it goes terribly wrong, give me 75 instead.” I say beginning to stand out of my chair.
He clapped his hands and replied, “Deal.” We shook on it and nervously I started off towards the girls table. I quickly ran a hand through my hair, and with every step, the more my heart raced.
“Deep breaths, deep breaths, Jungkook.” I told myself as if I was my own support coach. As I arrived to there table I looked at Yugyeom one last time, who was recording me. “Aish,” I say loudly, just as I stand directly in front of the girl. I froze. She was even prettier closer up than far away. She had [your hair color/length] and [skin color] skin. She was prettier than any other university girl I’ve seen.
The girl and her friend both turned to looked at me as I began to speak, “Um, Excuse me, miss.”
