Prologue
“It’s us or them Yedda. You can’t have both.”
She found it hard to speak as his words registered in her brain. How could he make her choose between the people that she loved the most. She glared at the floor as she thought of her friends before meeting his intense stare.
“You know I can’t do that.”
He sighed as if he were expecting that answer and took a few steps closer to her. His eyes held so much pain as he addressed her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Then you know that I have no power over who gets hurt. This is my family and I’ll die protecting all of you.”
“They would never hurt me.”
His chuckle sent a chill down her spine as he placed a delicate kiss on her forehead.
“For your sake, I hope that’s true because if anything ever happens to you, their bodies will be found unrecognizable.”
He walked away from her as she regained her posture. Her friends had easily became her family and she would do anything to keep them from hurting each other, even if she were to get hurt in the process.
