Chapter 1
In a distant future where humanity has accomplished what was once deemed impossible, creating artificial life. The entire science community celebrated this once impossible feat for they believed this was the beginning of something great, but they would soon find that this was nothing but a mistake. A year after the birth of what later would be called the Láthos, humanity’s creation began to believe that their creators are nothing but a virus and this train of thought soon sparked a long bloody conflict between the two races. Years pass as the fighting rages on; the human race on the brink of extinction, but after they thought all hope was lost, the human research specialists found a way to end this losing war for they discovered a genetic flaw in the Láthos which if exploited could shut down their mental and physical functions. Using this discovery, they created a bioweapon, a device that when activated would disperse a particular chemical into the atmosphere which would then cause their misfit creations to enter a state of hibernation but leaving humanity themselves unaffected. After several weeks of testing, they commenced the operation; the tension high as this was humanity’s last chance. Fortunately soon after activating the bioweapon, the Láthos all entered a deep slumber which signaled the end of the long war. The entire world celebrated for they believed this was the end but was it?
Sixty-two years later in an abandoned chapel.
“We shouldn’t be here, Jason.” A young girl says as she looks around the chapel halls warily.
The boy in question laughs, grinning before asking in a taunting tone “Scared, Jesse?”
“N-no! you’re the one scared!” Jesse says while trying to look like she’s not shaking in her boots, but unfortunately failing miserably.
The boy being annoyed by her insult is about to retort, but when he realizes how scared she is, he closes the distance between the both of them and takes hold of her hand, the warmth of his hand causing her to relax visibly.
“Thank you.” she says with a smile which he responds to with a nod.
After that exchange, they walk further into the abandoned chapel and eventually arrive at the main room. In the middle of this room lies a black coffin which is surrounded by a feeling of unease.
“what is that?!” Jacob says excitedly before running towards the mysterious coffin and immediately looking it over with a child’s curiosity while Jesse follows behind him with caution.
“Looks real! You think its real? Can we open it? I’m gonna ope-” Jacob Practically shouts before getting interrupted mid-sentence, an unknown hand pushing the lid open and breaking it off the hinges.
“w-who are you...?” Jesse asks as the culprit, a man, comes out of the now opened coffin, Jesse backing away as Jacob falls onto his bottom.
The man watches the two children which gives the kids a chance to intake the mysterious man’s appearance. The man is around 6′2 in height, dressed in a gentleman’s black suit that molds perfectly with his athletic build; white gloves covering his hands while a black fedora lays gently on his pure white wavy hair, white eyes of the same shade as his hair that observes them both attentively; both being a beautiful contrast to his tanned tone.
After a few minutes of this silence; the man finally acts by bowing courtly to the children before saying in a smooth, charming voice “I am Peccatum Enim Datorem which in your language would be Sin giver.”
“My apologies if I’m rude, but what year is it?” he asks them while acting oddly polite. “i-it’s 2100, s-sir.” Says Jacob; the feeling of unease only increasing despite the man’s politeness. Hearing this; the man’s clear white eyes narrow; looking at the two of them menacingly.
“If that is so and taking into account the fact I’m talking to a human child... We must have lost the war to you disgusting Humans.” He says, his voice suddenly full of nothing but contempt; the kindness in his tone all but gone which both Jesse and Jacob notice; causing them to flinch as Sin’s lips form into a twisted smile before he walks menacingly towards Jacob; leaning down and grabbing the boy by the neck, his grip tight.
“Children, scurry off to your leaders and warn them of their mistake’s return.” he says before suddenly letting go of Jacob; both of the kids immediately running away to do as he commands, grateful that they yet live.
When the kids are no longer anywhere in sight; Sin takes a moment to take in his surroundings which is the center chamber of a ruined chapel; the benches dusty and in need of repair; part of the ceiling collapsed and blocked part of the room while the alter remains in nothing but pieces.
“This place has seen better days.” He whispers to himself before kneeling down and placing his hand gently on the dirt covered floor. Suddenly a golden blinding light surrounds Sin and quickly spreads through the whole chapel. The light then fades to reveal that the entire chapel that was in ruins only moments before is now in better condition than it has ever been, outstandingly beautiful. Sin smiles, apparently proud of his accomplishment.
“This is where the path to our revenge begins, and now we must walk and see where this road of vengeance leads.”
To Be Continued.
