Prolouge
It was the dead of night, and the city outside the window was asleep. After a long day of endless work, the metropolis had finally settled down for respite. Everything would be temporarily put on hold until the next day. For now, it was time to rest.
Though, for the one individual on the inward side of the window, there was no time to rest. Things were only beginning. As long, agile fingers danced across the keyboard and an eerie glow of the computer screen lit the far end of the room, the dark figure continued to sculpt their own world…
Events popped up one by one, characters faced a new trial here and there, and the story was set into motion. The writer was relentless, bringing a tale to life, the rhythm of tapping keys filling the empty silence of the night. Tap-tap-taptap-tap… tap-taptap-taptap-tap… taptaptap-taptap-taptaptap… taptaptaptaptaptap…
The typing became almost feverish. The person picked up speed, fingers now flying from key to key, as if needing to get it all down and out of their system. The computer screen filled with new words, like water being poured into an empty glass without end. The words spilled over to another page, but the individual payed no mind and kept writing.
Taptaptaptaptaptap… taptaptaptap… taptap-taptap… taptap… tap… Finally the tapping noises petered away, and the writer stopped to admire their work. Satisfied, they hit the Save button…
Like a full glass that had been flipped upside down, the words started rapidly draining off the page.
“Gh!” The person jerked with surprise, then hurried to try and stop it, desperately clicking the mouse and hitting the keys. However, like attempting to stop the flow of water with your hands, it was a futile effort. The words incessantly disappeared off the screen, falling out of existence until there was nothing left. Staring at the blank display before them, the writer was dumbfounded.
Then, slowly, letters appeared on the screen again. One by one, as if being inputted by a child not quite sure where each key was yet. Y… O… U… F… A… I… L… E… D…
