Meeting Him
Today was like every other day. Me and my mom would go to hospitals for checkups, and hear the same sentance over and over,
“There is still a high percent chance you wont make it through this.”
Every doctor says that. It is not like i wanted this in the first place. I was diagnosed with a disease that i may or may not have a chance to survive from. I’ve had it since i was eleven years old. We always had hope. But i want to give up on that hope. Nothing’s changing. Just about a month ago we found out that I’m getting better, now it’s getting worse.
I told my mom that i was going for a walk. Going on walks help me by distracting me. It helps me forget for some time that i have this sickness. I always make sure to visit the blossom tree at the end of the trail. Its beautiful branches covered in the lightest shade of pink that contain the blossoms that fall to the ground like snow.
As I approach the tree i see a boy, about my age, sitting on a bench not far from the tree. I chose to ignore him, and i kneeled down and gently stroked the trunk of the tree. As i did this i remembered every doctor my and my mother have ever visited to ony find out sad news about me. How every doctor said that we can only hope for the best. I silently cried as i now sat, back against the trunk of the tree.
The boy seemed to have noticed me crying as he soon approached me very carefully as if i would cry even more. He kneeled down beside me and spoke.
“ Hey, don’t cry. It’s okay. Everything will be okay, whatever it is. Everything will always be okay.”
He said rubbing his hand up and down my back gently.
“I wish that could be true…”
I spoke quietly, but he heard.
“Why are you crying?”
He asked removing hand from my back and sitting right across from me.
“Some personal things. But like you said i would be okay.”
I forced a smile to him.
But it won’t be okay…
I said in my mind.
“What’s your name?”
He asked changing the topic.
“My name is Min Minhee.”
“That’s a beautiful name.”
He said. Now that I think about, he always had a smile on his face. Since the second i saw him till now. It never left his face.
“Thanks. What’s your name?”
I asked.
“My name is Jung Hoseok, but I also go by J-Hope.”
“J-Hope… do you perhaps know Min Yoongi?”
I heard of that name before from my brother.
“Yeah. How do you know?”
"He's my brother."
You genuinely smiled at him for the first time during the conversation.
"No wonder your name sounds familiar. Well it's a pleasure meeting you Min Minhee."
He said smiling as always.
