The Automatic Door, And the Girl Who Understood the Delemma
Cherry stared at the door. Not just any door, an automatic door.
To get in the store, she had to go through the door. The door that could close on her at any moment, crushing a limb, or catching her clothes. Cherry was nineteen, but still was unable to conquer the phobia that made her take the stairs up ten levels to her dorm instead of the elevator. The phobia she had had since she was a toddler. Dear God, what should she do?
Sabrina was watching the young teenager stare at the store’s door. She had seen her before, but the 25 year old had thought she was exercising by going up the stairs of their dorm. Apparently not.
“Come on Aaliyah, follow me,” She said, adjusting her hijab. Her friend Aaliyah, lay indeed tall, followed close to her.
“Are you afraid of the door?” Sabrina asked as she approached the girl.
“Yeah,” Cherry said.
“What are you trying to get?” Aaliyah asked.
“Hummus, Pita chips, ginger tea, peppermint extract, and a large bottle of ginger beer,” Cherry said, showing them a shopping list.
“The only thing on that that those people have are the pita chips. Come on, follow us. I know a place that has all that and a non-automatic door.My cousin owns it, his name is Aadil. Come on!” Sabrina said. It was the start of a beautiful friendship!
