Prologue
After the accident, Amber felt very upset and depressed as she had lost a very important person in her life and a motherly image in her household.
Eric was not good with words and was unable to comfort her as Eric was not close to Amber. As Amber has no one to talk to, she became an introverted and depressed child.
A year later good news has arrived: Eric was going to be remarried to a woman called Mary who also is a single parent and had two children, Charles aged 7 and Alice aged 6 same as Amber.
A few weeks before the wedding was held, Eric and Amber moved into Mary’s family hoping to get to know more about each other.
Mary was kind, she already had arranged Amber to share a room with Alice and Amber was grateful that Mary cares a lot about her.
Everything was so peaceful in the family as Alice and Charles treated Amber as their sister, Amber had never received so much love as before.
A few days after the wedding, Eric had a sudden business trip to go to which was in Paris. It was much further far away as Amber thought as they were now in NYC which was two different countries.
Things get different the moment when Eric leaves for his business trip. The Mary that was thought to be kind and sweet actually had an evil heart who never even wanted Amber to be part of the family.
She sent Alice and Charles to bring her luggage to the attic also known as the storeroom.
Upon knowing the truth, Amber was shocked and heartbroken to know that they were liars and betrayers.
A sweet dream had just turned into an eternal nightmare.
11 years later
Time current 7.00 am
“Alarm clock goes off”
Amber gets out of bed and glances at the calendar on the wall that says “16th July Dad’s anniversary."
"It's time to visit dad again, I wonder if he’s doing fine in heaven..."
Tears began welling up in her eyes and she struggled to stop herself from crying.
"I always get emotional thinking about dad, by the way, who won’t??"
I got out of bed and began to prepare breakfast for the entire family who is still in deep slumber and clearly shows no signs of even waking up for a normal school day.
It was around 7.30 am that they began to get up and it is also the timing that I would get really busy because I have to do all sorts of chores for everyone in the family, specifically the Hawkins.
Alice, my step sister yelled at the top of her lungs. "AMBER!! Where is my outfit for today??"
"AMBER!! Where is my f***ing hair gel??" Charles demanded and I rolled my eyes before getting what they wanted, I randomly picked an outfit for Alice Hawkins who seems so lazy to even open the wardrobe by herself and I placed down the bottle of hair gel on Charles's bedside table before going down to the kitchen to prepare even more food for them.
How I wish that this was my house and have these three as slaves for me...
Even though Amber’s family has people that are mean to her, there is one friend who has always stayed by her side ever since she was a child, his name was Nicholas.
After breakfast, it was time for school. Amber went to her room- the attic to change.
10 minutes later, there was a car honk being sounded, that was Nicholas. Nicholas picks up Amber every day for school, rain or shine.
"Don’t you feel tired every day picking up this poor and pathetic girl that loves in the attic and has a cinderella’s life??" He asked as I took my seat next to him.
"Never ever will I left you alone, my love. If I did, I wouldn't be human."
Even though it is just a simple remark, it was enough to make my heart flutter a little and that created a short 10 minutes of silence until we arrived at campus.
I got out of Nicholas's car and went to class on my own. This is to prevent anyone from seeing me with Nicholas as Nicholas is the hot guy and they wouldn’t want me to be talking to him or anything to do with Nicholas.
Although Nicholas always wanted me to join him for any activities, I have always rejected him.
