Prologue
Maybe my life will get better while I am in my sophomore year? I thought to myself as I am at school, going through locker for my gym bag. I have gym for my next period even though I don’t participate in it. So why even bother getting it. I mean I know that it is there for a reason but all I do is get hit and start getting hurt all the time. And that’s because of the students in my class. Heck all the students in the school hates my guts even though I don’t know why they do. That’s why I always come up with an excuse to skip it. But the teacher doesn’t even pay attention to me. Most of the time they do roll call to see who is there for class, they call my name, I say ‘here’ or ‘present’, then they mark me absent. Actually they do that all the time.
As I am trying to finish putting my things in my locker, I heard a voice call out my name. At first I thought that it was Alex (one of my bullies, actually the main bully) but they voice was a male voice instead of a female. “HEY, Y/N!” The person yells. I came from the left side of me from down the hall. I looked to see who it was and it is Taehyung, my only best friend. He was running down the hall trying to get to me faster. He is wearing a white button up, collared shirt with black skinny jeans that have holes on his knees. His shoes are black converses and his hair is a light brown color with his bangs in his face (like always).
So technically, not the whole school hates me. Only two students in this entire school actually loves me: Taehyung and my older brother, Yoongi. I never met any of their other friends. Even if I did, I doubt in my mind that they will hate me.
Taehyung slammed his hand against the locker beside mine which causes me to jump a little and he is also bending down with his other hand on his knee, trying to catch his breath.
“What is it Tae? I am trying to put my stuff away and how many times do I have to tell you? You don’t need to-” I start to say to him while he is in the middle of slowing down his breathing. But he cut me off.
“It is about Yoongi. He is about to get into a fight with other students.” As soon as he said that, I threw the rest of my stuff into my locker, and slammed it shut causing the lock on it to lock itself.
“Where is he?” I asked as soon as I made eye contact with him.
“The cafeteria.” After that both of us started running to the cafeteria. But while we were halfway there, I started to get light headed. Which I thought was weird because that never happened to me before. But I did not stop running. But I did notice that Taehyung would look back at me from now and again. By the time we have arrived, we were lucky that fight didn’t even start. Tae ran to Yoongi and started to try and calm Yoongi down. I can tell that it didn’t help. I took as much air as I could and started to yell.
“YOONGI!” I shouted and he looked straight at me with anger filling his eyes. He is wearing a cap on his head with a black long coat and a black shirt under it. He is wearing the same type of jeans as Taehyung is wearing but different shoes. He is wearing the same color as Tae’s shoes but they are sneakers. And also he is a senior and I am a sophomore. I then started to run towards them, avoiding the tables and chairs so I wouldn’t hit them. “Why in the world are you doing this again. How many times do we ha-” I was cut off by pure blackness as I was talking to Yoongi. I felt my body hit the floor. I couldn’t tell what was going on from that point but all I know is that I have gotten both Yoongi and Taehyung worried.
I woke up in the hospital and I look to my left. There, I saw a figure in the darkness. I could hear them snoring. It wasn’t to loud. It was more of a really soft an quiet snores. I turned on the lamp beside me and the darkness was filled with the dim light that is coming from the lamp. And with the dim light, it was enough to see Yoongi sleeping in the little chair that is next to my hospital bed. When I was about to turn off the lamp, there was a sudden voice in the room that scared me.
“Glad to see you awake.” The voice said. I faced the direction that it came from and I see a tired Yoongi that is awake now.
“I was going to turn the light off for you.” I say. “I can still do that if you want more sleep.”
“There is no need. I need to get up anyways.” He started to sit up in his seat as I just nod my head.
“Where is mom?” I asked looking around to see if there is anyone else in this room that is sleeping.
“She’s still at work. The company wouldn’t let her leave.” I huffed in annoyance.
“Like always. I swear this always happens whenever there is an actual emergency.” I started to think that she doesn’t care after all. “How about The. Where is he?”
“He is getting something to eat I believe. Last I saw him, he said he was going to go get food. And that was like twenty minutes ago. And I was sleeping only for fifteen minutes.” I nodded slowly.
“Why am I in hospital actually?” I asked with concern and looked back at him and he is on his phone. With that question, he stopped playing with his phone and looked at me in a confused way.
“You seriously don’t remember? You fainted at school while trying to stop me from picking a fight with other students.” As soon as he said that, I started to get upset with him.
“Why were you trying to fight with them in the first place? You know darn well that you can’t do that because they wake you up.” He looked back at his phone, ignoring the last part of what I said.
“They were talking crap about you.” He whispered, hoping that I didn’t hear that but I did.
“Who care if they talk crap about me? I don’t really care. They are doing that sort of thing because they are just jealous.” I tell him. I always tell myself that to. “But anyways. Can we go home. I want to go home. You know how I feel about hospitals.”
“Nope. We need to wait for the blood work to come in to see if you are okay.” He says, still looking at his phone. I crossed my arms in front of my chest. “Pouting about it won’t make it go any faster.” I just rolled my eyes at his smart comment. And with that, Tae has came back with a whole bunch of food. I looked at him with a happy yet concerned look in my eyes.
Time has passed and I am able to go home. Apparently, I have a rare disease that no one knows about. And we don’t know for sure how long I have to live.
