Chapter 1
Y/N’s POV (Point of View)
The bitter wind whipped across the run-down street, dark rain clouds looming overhead threatening to open and pour down all its snowy glory on the world below. I shivered and my slim, long fingers fumbled with the zip of my dark green coat, worn out from the constant use. Zipping up my coat, however, did little to block out the icy coldness that wormed its way across my skin, causing my hair to stand on end.
I rubbed my arms as I continued to shiver, struggling to get some heat into them, but to no avail.
The howling wind caught my attention as it made a dirty, tattered piece of old white cloth billow, the small strings struggling to hold the flag where it was rather than being whisked off in the wind. The words, Rude Boys, was spread across the cloth in black paint, closely followed by Rude Boys symbol.
So this is it. The feared street, the feared gang faction thing. The place that once you entered you never never came back out... The place where it was said, 'Outsiders will be slashed.'... It didn't look like much, children scampered around in rags, and homeless people crowded around open fires, struggling to find warmth in the harsh winter weather.
My arm reached over my head as my fingers curled around my coat hood, before pulling it up over my head. I sighed whilst fixing my back-pack. Maybe working here wouldn't be so hard after all, sure there's not even a Rude Boy in sight!
“Here goes nothing.” I mumble taking the first step into Ghost Town.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I kept my head down, not wanting to attract attention as I passed through the dirty streets, cloth rags thrown across wooden sticks serving as homes for the towns' inhabitants. Better than what I have, I thought to myself as I turned down a thin alley, tall, run-down, brick, buildings looming at both sides.
My senses picked up on the feeling of being watched as I ducked under a metal pipe protruding from the wreckage of the building to my left.
I tensed when the faint noise of movement originated from behind me. I acted as if I hadn't noticed and just continued walking down the alley, eyes trained on the opening that would lead me out of the dark, cramped alley.
I didn't want to alert whoever was following me, that I knew of their presence . . . not yet...
I took a sharp left as soon as I was out of the trapped confinement of the alley. I was supposed to go right, to meet up at the drop off point, but that would also mean leading the person behind me right to the source.
If I spoiled another trade I'd end up being in massive trouble whenever I got back, and after last time I couldn't risk it.
My hands clasped tightly at the straps of my backpack, it was the delivery... What was I going to do with it? I couldn't be caught with it, but at the same time I couldn't just dump it on the ground as it would quickly be picked up by whoever was following.
I grumbled some unseemly talk as I realised that the package would be staying with me, my feet brushing against the ground softly as I headed to what looked like an abandoned factory.
The dark clouds finally opened up and small, crystal white, snowflakes fluttered to the ground melting quickly before another would take its place, but this time stay.
I pulled my coat closer to my small frame, thankful for the shelter from the cold wind and snow when I stepped foot inside the factory.
I glanced around quickly. Old equipment lay scattered across the entire ground floor, graffiti sprayed along the walls, a single set of metal stairs led up to the second floor.
I noted that this floor was too crowded with things to have decent room to fight in so I made my way up the creaky stairs to the second floor or the third which ever would be better for fighting on. The coldness of the metal racing through my thin sneakers and numbing my feet.
A small smile formed on my face as the third floor was bare of everything, pillars lining along the middle of the room, and large metal trap doors lay sprawled open revealing a long drop to the second floor. Old broken windows let the remaining day light flow into the room, the occasional snow flake floating in, but it also let the wind through.
I looked down at my torso quickly tying the ends of my backpack straps together so they stretched across my chest, ensuring that it would not slip off in a fight.
I marched to the middle of the room, my fingers automatically sliding into my pocket and pulling out a single black mask. Slipping it onto my face, and making sure my hood was on properly so my identity would not get loose, not like I had one but that was what I was trained to do anyway so I just followed along like the animal I was raised as.
Hearing shuffling behind me as whoever was following me stepped into the room, I smirked twisting on my heel and swinging around.
He no longer made any effort to hide himself as my eyes raked over him taking in everything in case I was asked about it later.
He was tall, like super duper tall, making me seem like a toddler as I was originally short. His jet black hair was shaved at the sides, but the top had been grown and was currently pulled back tightly into a ponytail.
He had dark brown eyes, high cheek bones, and pink heart shaped lips. His ears stuck out a little compared to most people, and his face was hardened as he showed nothing but a desire to protect.
I scoffed, what did he have to protect? A dump?!
He clothes were the same as most people here, but his jacket caught my attention as it was dotted with badges. I didn't know what they were for but I knew enough to at least try to stay out of his way, but so much for me...
He eyed me up, and he looked ready for a fight. However, that didn't bother me, I could easily take him on . . . I think...
There was just one so it shouldn’t be too hard. Hearing a noise behind me, I turned around to face the new threat, and I realised in dismay that I'd thought too soon. Now, there was two of them.
He was crouched down looking at my confidence with a mocking expression.
He had striking blonde hair, and hazel eyes that one could get lost in, cheeks tinted pink because of the colder temperature, and a small black spot on his left cheek which I found cute.
I quickly brushed the thought away as there was movement behind me once again, Seriously how many of them is there?!
He was leaning against on the many pillars, boring holes into me with his eyes as if I'd just stolen his lunch...
His hair was like mulberry only more red, pushed off his forehead by a white bandanna with black markings etched across it. His lips were pressed against each other a hint of purple sparkling across them, and his sharp jawline only bring more attention to how lean and fit he was.
I held my breath as I waited for more of them to pop out of nowhere, but I guessed this was it. Rude Boys had sent three people to handle a stranger across their territory, Boy, they must have a ton of spare time on their hands.
Well, that was that. I was basically caught, I couldn't fight three! Not at once! I half wondered if they would keep to their saying and actually slash outsiders, but that thought faded away when my gaze fell upon a shattered window close behind the guy wearing a bandanna, but more importantly the construction site just within jumping distance . . . barely.
I shrugged off the erratic beating of my heart as it panicked at the thought of jumping out a three story building.
Nothing you haven't done before...
Nothing?! Woah, since when is jumping off something this high, Nothing?! . . . You haven't actually been this high before...
*Silence*
I grumbled in complaint, but whenever the main guy wearing an arm jacket stepped closer my choice was made up for me.
I took a deep breath letting it out slowly as Army Jacket took another step, the guy with a constant mocking face helping to block me in.
Army Jacket Guy: “Put the back-pack down.”
His words held authority, and I was tempted to do what he said until I remembered the last time I had failed to do my assigned task. I didn’t want to go through that again...
“I’m surprised that you found me so fast," I said honestly, "but do you really think for one second that I’m going to obey you?”
You shook your head, and chuckled.
“If you want it, come get it!”-I growled making a dash towards the window.
Bandanna's eyes widened as he jumped into action stepping in my way, arms and legs spread wide to take up more room.
Not hesitating I dropped to the ground, my previous speed causing me to skid across it as I expertly slid right in between his feet, flashing him a smile even though he couldn't see it before jolting to my feet and picking up my pace once again.
I could hear them close in behind me and I quickened my pace as the distance between me and the window seemed to close quicker than the speed of light.
"Here goes nothing..."-I whisper as I jump forward placing one foot on the base of the shattered window and pushing off, my arms outstretched to grab a bar that jutted out from the construction site.
