So inspiring

"This book has been so heartwarming, so well put together, so inspiring. This book has a message that says you can achieve the impossible, the out reachable. It also shows a journey to of the struggles in life and what we take for granted everyday and what we tend to not really appreciate. It was a very wonderful light and smooth read that brought me to tears. Amazing story!"

The Walking Stick

"This book was an excellent read! The author drew me in with her cast of characters with their unique personalities. Pearl and her magic walking stick provide an interesting twist and the patience of her mom and grandma are a lesson for us all. The friends she meets on her life journey prove to be life long companions. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. The author uses her words to paint a colorful picture and I highly recommend this book. "

The Walking Stick

"I so love author Tiffany Winters writing style of seamlessly guiding the reader into her story. The way she weaves metaphors beautifully throughout the story gives protagonist Pearl’s world richness where I felt every emotion she went through as her world changed. I would recommend “The Walking Stick,” for preteens and adults, a story that inspires hope and love."

An Enjoyable Tale of Growth and Reflection

""The Walking Stick" is a captivating tale about a "fiery" young girl. As a result of the humane, accessible style of the author, even I, being male, can dive into, appreciate, and learn from Pearl's story. I highly recommend!"

Emotion Filled

"Really enjoyed how the focus on Pearl's family upbringing is a focus. invests my emotion into the character more so. Soon after getting connected to Pearl, her mother and her grandmothers relationship the Author then plays with the reader's feelings with the bad news for Pearl's vision. Very compelling and the story makes you want to read on and invest more time and care into each character. Love the imagery."

The Walking Stick

"I'd love to see this book in the hands of a middle school language arts class. A wise story of a teenager as she struggles to overcome the difficulties of her impending blindness. This contemporary story might be more relatible to teens than reading about Helen Keller. The supporting characters are strong and complementary, particularly Katharine who is Miss Popularity at school as she tries to hide her unhappiness. With Pearl's help, she discovers more about herself, worries less about peer approval, and becomes her own person while Katharine gives Pearl insight into what it's like to be a teenager, which opens up Pearl's world. The imagery is excellent, such as Pearl's painted walking stick, each color representing a different emotion. These colors provide an additional tool for teens, other than smiley faces, since most middle school students have difficulty identifying their emotions, Pearl's family .dynamic and the romance round out the story."

Wonderful Insight

"This is a novel written with wonderful insight to inner fears and thoughts for anyone experiencing a radical life change or loss. Walking with Pearl through her story makes you feel as though you have first hand insight into the transitions that occur with loss of sight. The inner emotional rollercoaster Pearl travels on with humility, laughter and honesty serves as a touching portrait of an insightful writer. The closing in of Pearl's outside world transports you along with Pearl into those feelings of fear and uncertainty as well as the brilliant sparkles of hope and growth as we cheer on our heroine as she learns to trust in herself."
