Her first kill
Missy woke up and she tried to move, sleep paralysis, it was the third time this week. She looked around only her eyes moving as in the corner she saw something. It was a blur but she could make out the red eyes of the blurry figure. She wanted to tell it to leave her alone just go away, but she couldn’t talk or move. The blur had appeared in her room for the three days, it just stared at her. It moved close, it went to her bed. Her eyes watched the figure, it touched her as it got on the bed, she tried to close her eyes but she wasn’t able too. She wanted to scream as it went and looked at her in the eyes. Suddenly she could move. She looked at the time “6:34” she said out loud.
She looked around still afraid that ‘it’ was still there. The thing was nowhere to be seen, she sighed in relief. Her feet it the floor as she went to get clothes for school. She put on a black shirt and some black skinny jeans. “I look emo,” she said. “I probably will be yelled at by Jessica” she spoke again. She heard her mom call her “Missy sweetie breakfast!” she went put on some socks and then ran downstairs. She slipped and fell on the way down, she had a red mark on her foot now, but she didn’t care.
She went and looked at her mom “What did you make?” she said with a smile. “I made blueberry pancakes,” her mother said, not looking at Missy as she placed a pancake on the plate. “Thanks, mom!” Missy spoke as she started to shove her face with the pancake. “Done,” Missy spoke as she ran to get her shoes. She threw on some black Converse and then grabbed her backpack. “Bye mom!” she yelled from the front door. “Bye Missy have a great day!” Missy ran out and closed the door.
Once she got to the bus stop Jessica looked at her “What the fuck are you wearing?” she said with a butt load of sass. “Somebody’s a sassy lassie, and I’m wearing clothes,” Missy said back. Jessica and Missy had been friends since seventh grade. Once in high school and being the oldest they became “popular” Missy didn’t enjoy it but Jessica loved it. Missy’s thoughts got broken when Jessica spoke again “Missy! Are you even listening?” she almost yelled. “Huh? Oh sorry” Missy said, the bus pulled up and kids started to push and shove to get into the bus. Missy and Jessica were one of the first onto the bus. Missy sat alone while Jessica sat with another more popular kid.
Once the bus arrived at school Missy went and opened her locker. She put two books in and then shut her locker. Jessica came up to her “You take too long, come on.” Missy followed Jessica to class. After school, Missy and Jessica got onto the bus and again Missy sat alone and Jessica sat with the same kid. Once Missy got home she sat on the sofa, her mother didn’t come home until six. She got her phone and just watched YouTube for a bit until she got tired. She went up to her bed to take a nap, she laid down and fell asleep slowly.
Her eyes opened ‘oh god’ she thought. The shadow blur was right there, on her bed staring at her. Its red eyes scared her but she sucked it up and tried not to be scared. It was working until it spoke “Jessica.” ‘It’ said, its voice was raspy and like the sound of nails on a chalkboard. ‘What about Jessica’ Missy thought. “She treats you wrong. She was your friend. She treats you like a lost dog. Kill her, do it, Missy.” ‘It’ spoke. ‘It wants me to kill my best friend?’ she wanted to scream. “Do it. Do it. Do it” ‘it’ sounded like a broken record, it just repeated itself over and over.
She woke up. She looked around, her mother was calling her. “Missy! I’m home and I brought dinner!” her mother called. Missy ran downstairs, not tripping thankfully. She smiled at her mom, “what did you bring?” Missy asked. “Food, duh.” Her mother said. Missy fake laughed. “Anyway, I got tacos.” Her mother spoke. She set down the tacos from Taco Bell. “Thanks, mom!” she smiled. She started to eat.
Missy had eaten 4 tacos before stopping because her stomach hurt. “Ughhh” her mother was upstairs eating while watching some 90’s show, probably Golden Girls. She didn’t mind the show. She put the extra tacos back. ’Jessica does treat me bad…,but do I need to kill her? I was her original friend, maybe the ‘thing’ will leave me alone… fine. I’ll do it.’ She thought then grabbed her phone.
Missy: hey can I come over for a bit?
Jessica: why?
Missy: just to hang out, duh :))
Jessica: Fine
Missy called and told her mom. Her mom didn’t mind since it was Friday. She grabbed her bag. She ran out and went to the shed. She looked at everything she could kill Jessica with. “Hmm… nothing but the shears will fit into my bag. Shears it is!” she threw them into the bag. She ran to Jessica’s house and went in through the window like normal.
“Yo Jess” Missy spoke. “Hey, Miss,” Jessica said not looking at Missy. “Is your mom home?” Missy asked not trying to let out what she was doing. “No, she went on a business trip,” Jessica said back still not looking. As soon as she heard ‘no’ she opened her bag trying to be subtle. Jessica looked at Missy as she held the shears with gloves on. “W-why do you have that?” Jessica said her voice shaking.
“Uh, Bye…” Missy said as she stabbed her best friend in the eye with the shears. As she pulled the shears back, Jessica’s eye came out and the red substance started to pour out of Jessica’s right eye socket and onto the gloves. Jessica was still breathing though as she screamed in pain. The scream could be heard from a mile away because somebody called the police. Missy heard the sirens she started to panic, knowing she had little time she stabbed her friend quickly in the heart.
She checked if Jessica was breathing, she wasn’t. Missy dropped the shears in the bag and jumped out of the window. She ran to her house, making sure to throw the gloves away and clean the shears. She went to her room and slept. That night the figure didn’t come back. It never did.
