Chapter One: From the Start
Once upon a time, in a far away land -- yeah, no, that ain't gonna happen. We all heard of the same old story all the time? Thought so. A while ago, King Adam and Queen Belle rounded up all of the villains, sidekicks, basically anyone who they thought were unsuitable for them was kicked and shipped off to an island. The Isle of the Lost. My island. They created a barrier where we couldn't cross over to their land. This is my story. Sit down lads and lasses, cause it's about to get a whole lot messier. But before we get to that, let's start from the beginning.
Prince Benjamin, soon to be king, was looking out the window to a far off island called the Isle of the Lost. An island where all the villains and 'bad guys' were banished, forcing their children to live there too. The soon to be king's head was spinning around with thoughts and ideas swarming. The tailor, who was working on his suit, lifted his arms up to take more measurements."Head," the tailor with glasses said, moving Ben's head forwards, wrapping the measuring tape around his forehead. His mind still aching at the thought of the abandoned island.
"How is it possible that you're going to be crowned king next month?" Ben's father spoke aloud in a booming voice. Ben faced his father, King Adam of Auradon, also known as the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. "You're just a baby," Adam teased his son while his mother came up right beside him.
"He's turning sixteen, dear," her voice almost angelic. This was Queen Belle. To answer your suspicions, yes, Ben is the son of Queen Belle and King Adam, rulers of Auradon. In a month, Ben will be announced as King. Lucky lad, huh.
"Hey pop," Ben greeted with a striking smile. His mother, Belle, grabbed the blue jacket and placed it neatly on the table, wrapping it over her arm.
"Sixteen? That's far too young to be crowned king. I didn't make a good decision until I was at least forty-two." He flashed a playful smirk to his son.
A look of hurt crossed over Belle's face as she scoffed, looking at the man she had married. "Uh, you decided to marry me at twenty-eight," Belle added, her face torn, figuring out if he was running a rig or being serious.
"Well, it was either you or the teapot," Adam sent a small wink to his son, grinning. Once more, Belle scoffed, completely unamused.
"Kidding," Adam said as he looked at his wife's face who softened up a tad. Ben looked between them, nervous, deciding whether he should tell them what's on his mind.
He gathered his course together, hoping for the best, and took a shot. "Mom, dad." He almost took a step down from the small podium but the tailor who was still measuring him, stopped. Both Ben's parents looked at their son in curiosity. "I've chosen my first official proclamation," he let out a nervous sigh. His hands sweating and heart beating quickly. His mother gasped in awe while his father stared at him with interest.
"I've decided that the children in the Isle of the Lost be given a chance," he paused to take a breath, "to live here, in Auradon." The Queen, in utter shock, dropped the jacket she had in her hands. The King's expression was hard. Ben took a step towards them, completely ignoring the tailors orders to return. His head cocked to glance at the window, showing the island.
"Every time I look out at the island, I feel like, they've been abandoned," Ben turned to face his parents who had the same expressions.
Adam took a small, threatening step forward, pointing at the Isle of the Lost through the window. "The children of our sworn enemies living among us?" His teeth gritting together in attempt to contain his anger. His tone harsh and cruel.
"We only start with a few at first, only the ones who need our help the most. I've already chosen them," Ben's voice was filled with bravery but inside, he was terrified and nervous. His mother nodded her head, a tad uncertain, of the situation.
"Have you?" The King harshly said. A soft, white, delicate hand placed on Adam's chest to stop him from blowing up in anger.
"I gave you a second chance," Belle turned to face her son, slowly putting her arm down from her husband's chest. "Who are their parent's dear?"
Ben shifted his weight, moving cautiously. He didn't want to upset his parents even more after what he was about to say. "Cruella de Vil, Jafar, Evil Queen, and -" he took a deep breath, "Captain Hook, and Maleficent."
The tailor jumped with a squeal, dropping all of his items onto the floor. Adam lost it. "Captain Hook?! Maleficent?! They are the worst villains on the island!"
"Dad, just hear me out," Ben begged, his voice full of desperation.
"I won't hear it!" The King ordered, furious. His anger getting the best of him. The scared tailor gathered his glasses, running off from the angry King. The other maids leaving as well. "They are guilty of unspeakable crimes!" Adam cried out in frustration, steam practically fuming from his ears.
"Please dad, their children are innocent! Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life?" Adam's face slowly softened. "Dad," Ben tried his best to reason with him.
With a confused look, Adam turned to his wife, then back to Ben. "I, suppose, the children are innocent," he sighed, still uncertain. The King looked to the ground once more before walking away.
Belle smiled at her son proudly, fixing his suit. "Well done," she nodded proudly. Ben had the look of happiness glued to his face.
"Shall we," Belle walked back to her husband, leaving together while Ben stood there staring out the window, to the Isle of the Lost.
Now let's begin the real story.
