Prologue

When Elizabeth was born on May 22nd, 2000, something was discovered shortly after her birth. She was diagnosed with a disease named Gullain-Barre syndrome, which allowed her right arm to become paralyzed. Luckily, the disease didn’t spread anywhere else, but the fact that her right arm was affected made her life miserable.

As soon as she came into school, she was detected. People stared, asking questions like a tornado; “Why is your arm not moving?”

“Move your arm! Wait- what? Awkward..”

“What are you, an alien?”

Once they learned the truth, they backed away, whispering to friends or people beside them as they continued down the hallway. Leaving Elizabeth all alone at the entrance of school. As the years went on, it got worse. Students were now harming her, beating her up, setting pranks, chasing her down the street when she went outside. But when she got in her home...

She was safe with her sister and family.

Lauren was 18 years old, but acted much older than that. Elizabeth understood that; seeing as going to college in a few months allows you to feel a little older than you are. She had the same brown hair as her younger sister, but didn’t have glasses unlike Elizabeth. Elizabeth loved her sister dearly; without her, she wouldn't be able to survive. Every day after school, she rushed home to hug her and hear Lauren's reassuring words, forgetting about the event that had happened earlier in the day. That's why she cried when she heard about Lauren going to college in December, when the program starts. Lauren explained to her that it was for the best, and that she needed a degree because it was important, kissed her cheek, and the conversation was over.

But in the months earlier, and afterwards, that school year of Elizabeth's was a roller coaster.
