Chapter 1
“Shela!” Crystine yelled as I made my way from the school. I turned to the pretty blonde cheerleader. She used to be such a terror. But now... now she was an awesome person. Like many others, she was just a hurt person pushing that pain onto others. She was a tall, platinum blond, blue-eyed beauty who used to be a bitch. “Before you leave I wanted to say thank you.”
A couple of days ago I was finally able to help Crystine with her problems. To help her understand that hurting others was just causing her more pain. She’s been thanking me since.
“You know you don’t have too, right?” I gave her a small smile. “It’s what I do.”
“I know but do you have to leave?” She was actually a really sweet and sentimental girl.
“Yes.” I moved around a lot. My parents were both au pairs with travel nursing diplomas. Between the two I know lots of languages and have lived in lots of places. In each, I find the biggest bully and put their reign of terror to rest.
“Will you visit?” She gave me a hopeful look.
“You know I can’t. But I’ll call.” I said, holding up my cell. Currently, I was in Greece. Yup, we were speaking Greek. But I was moving to the United States.
“Ugh, ok... Well bye then!” She turned around and ran over to her new friends.
“Oh! Crystine!” She turned back to me, “Remember your promise! Okay?”
“Okay!” I had made her promise to pull all of the other bullies in this school out of their problems and make this school bully-free. I’d do it myself but my parents were moving sooner than normal.
Every time we move, it’s usually because one or the other got a call. But they never left a job unfinished. They’d always move only after they’d completed where ever they were au pairs. Unlike most au pairs though, we always had our own house.
I whistled low to call the only living thing that I could truly call my friend. A small sparrow. His name was Krill. He flew over to my shoulder and perched there.
“C’mon. Let’s go finish packing.” I smiled at him. “We’re going to the states. Somewhere in Montana called Polson.”
He chirped as his response and took flight. Pulling up he turned and chirped again, daring me. He wanted a race.
“Alright, you’re on!” And we took off.
