Chapter 1
"UGH, I’m late again!”
I thought while running out of my house, “It’s the 3rd time!“. Even though college was 10 to 15 minutes walk away, I would still be late.
As running, I heard the bell and started running as fast as I possibly could.
Walking into class with everyone staring at you is honestly the most embarrassing thing that could happen to me, I mean, I am the girl that comes to class on time, submits homework on time, and has never gotten detention her whole life, but since college is going to be over soon, I got a bit lazy. I wouldn’t go to bed on time, I wouldn’t get up on time, basically, my whole schedule was screwed after staying at my best friend’s house on a Sunday night, with my other 4 best friends.
At lunch, I met up with Ivy who told me that the others are meeting out at her apartment to plan out our one week stay at Deadmen's Island. I almost yelled,
“Deadmen’s Island?!” Ivy shushed me while tying her dark green hair into a ponytail,
"It’s a secret! Just be there and we’ll explain everything,” I nodded and started wondering.
"What are they pulling me into!" I took a bite of my pizza slice consumed with so many questions in my head.
At home, I texted Alex to pick me up when he was leaving because he lives right across the street.
I heard his car honking outside so I ran, picking up my purse and saying bye to my mom.
Outside, he was waiting in his red Lexes, listening to music inside. I walked towards his car, wearing a red hood and black leggings with my handbag bagging against my waist and my dark brown hair in a bun. Alex was wearing a plain white T-shirt and black jeans with his jet black hair brushed back.
I opened the front door and sat in. “Hey," he said looking at me with his hands on the steering wheel, I closed the door as I snuggled in the seat,
“Hi! thanks for picking me up,"
“Anytime," he started the car and turned it around and made his way out of my driveway.
“So, what’s the deal with Deadmen’s Island?” I asked,
“Deadmen’s Island?!" he said in shock,
“Isn’t that where we’re goin,"
“But no one mentioned it to me!"
“Seriously?“
“Yeah, all Jace said was to meet up at Ivy’s and talk about renting a beach house at the California beach, not Deadmen’s Island!”
“Okay seriously, what are they up to,”
“Whatever it is, we find out today".
Alex parked his car and we walking into the building, just before the elevator closed, we slipped in and realized that Jace was in it.
Jace looked at us and did one his devilish smiles which made me move closer to Alex,
“Something is seriously up,” I whispered,
“I know, just act chill," I looked over at Jace, who was wearing a gray T-shirt with a black leather jacket on top, with black jeans and his hair in a mess.
There was complete silence for a second then Jace broke it, “Hey!” he said happily, maybe a little too happily,
“What are you, and Ivy up to?” Alex replied with a neutral tone while I crossed my arms staring at Jace, trying to see right throw his soul but with Jace, it’s almost impossible.
“It’s not just me and Ivy, Natasha is involved too,” Jace replied innocently as the elevator dinged open. And we walked out.
Jace knocked on the door, and within 2 seconds the door opened with Ivy showing up alongside a smirk on her face and gestured us to come in then she went over on the couch with Natasha snuggled in the corner of it.
With a smile, Natasha said, “Hey," Jace gestured ‘hi’ and sat on the armchair beside her. Alex and I replied in unison,
“Hey," Everyone stared at us in shock while we stared at each other and smiled then I went over to Natasha and sat beside her and Alex sat beside Jace with his eyes still locked on me.
“So?," I said breaking the silence, “Why DeadMen’s Island, huh?" I said sarcastically. Ivy started pinpointing stuff,
“It’s a beautiful island with amazing views from the hotel, the weather is perfect, It has some adventurous hiking trails-,"
“Literally no one has ever survived living there, at night it’s super creepy, there are reports of people gone missing after they went hiking, the whole island seems cursed and they call it DeadMen’s Island because people have died there!," Natasha interrupted.
“Natasha! Those were supposed to be a secret” Ivy said instantly like she had practiced it.
“Eh, I just booked 5 rooms in the only hotel there, so they have no choice," Jace said which made Alex give him a death glare.
I thought about everything for a minute: creepy cursed island, but beautiful weather and beach.
“I’ll go,” I said quietly and everyone instantly looked at me, “What?” Natasha asked, “I said, I’ll go but we will have to do some research about it," I replied quietly,
“If everyone is fine with it, then what will I do staying here alone," Alex said while standing up and snatching the chip bag out of Ivy’s hands.
