Uncanny Valley

"This is professional work in which the romantic struggles of the protagonist echo the exploration of robotic free-will central to the plot. The secondary world portrayed here seems believable and timely--as in well-worth considering as AI becomes more and more prevalent in our lives. If I hesitate to give the highest rating, it is because the main character, though well-developed in many ways, seems motivated more by emotion than moral self-discovery or intellectual enthusiasm. I was not quite convinced that she was contributing much to her adopted cause. That said, I don't in any way want to leave a bad impression. My concerns could well be addressed in the next book, and this book was fun, unfolding with enjoyable characters and surprising developments, interesting ideas and good action. P.S. Here's a Jane Austen title: Audacity and Delusion."
