Prologue
How much time has passed already? Why haven’t I received a call? Where is he right now? Is he in trouble again? It’s nine o’ clock at night and he said he would call at seven thirty. My phone hasn’t ring yet and I’ve been holding it all the time. I’m anxious. He’s making me nervous. I’ve been having a bad feeling since this morning, but I’ve tried to avoid it. A lot of thoughts come to my mind. What if something happened to him? Should I call him? Maybe it’s better if I wait a little more. There’s a huge probability that he fell asleep and forgot to call. I’m sure he’ll call me soon, he better have a good explanation. Oh, speaking of the devil. I just received a text.
Jin: Sorry, for delaying
Jin: Something came up
Jin: Get dressed nicely we’re going out
Me: Okay, were do we meet?
Jin: How about the same street we always meet?
Me: That sounds nice 😉
After that last text, I went straight to the bathroom and took a shower. I changed into something nice like Jin told me too. My outfit is quite simple, but quite perfect for my taste. Some light-colored shorts with a white shirt and a blue striped blazer. I brushed my light brown hair and untangled the hair knots. I let my hair loose to show off the natural waves my hair has. I’ve been waiting for this day a long time ago. He has been working on his new project and because of that I haven’t seen him that much. The last time we met was at the park, the place were we properly met. I think it was three weeks ago, we were sitting in the bench in front of the lake. I don’t quite remember that much of that day, but I do remember we were drinking soju and we were a little drunk.
I grabbed my purse and headed out of my apartment. It was a quite pleasant night not to cold, but not too hot. I walked happily through the sidewalks that guided me to my destination. Oechon Street is my destination, it’s not that far from my apartment that’s why we meet there when we have time. It only takes me fifteen minutes to get there. I hope he hasn’t arrived yet. I don’t want him to wait that long for me. He must be tired from his work.
I’m near the street, these streets keep getting familiar every time I cross them. Is like I could walk through them blindfolded. I checked my phone I arrived exactly at 10:15 p.m. Where is he? As I looked around I saw his car, then I saw him getting a bouquet of flower from a delivery florist van. He was across the street, standing in front of a convenience store. He looks so perfect and handsome standing there. He looks just like the first time I saw him. All my heart wants to do is hug him, all I must do is cross this street. He noticed I was standing at the other side, so he waved at me and I waved back. He had a smile across his face, if only time could stay still, so I could see him smile all the time.
I am waiting eagerly to cross the street. The light changed from red to green and it was a sign that I could cross to get to him. I looked out for any cars coming and none were coming. My heart told me to run to him, so I did. Suddenly, I feel lights coming towards me and they were getting closer. They were burning my left side. I wanted to run faster, but I felt like a turtle. I took one last look at Jin and he was frozen, his expression showed sadness. Why is he like this? It all feels like a dream, the time stopped, and my only solution is to close my eyes. I’m scared. Is this how the end feels or is a new beginning coming?
