Chapter 1
Who is elegance? Elegance is The Duchess that turns heads at the ball, standing out amid the crowd. Her mannerism charms you and her beauty beguiles you. She wears a dress of black silk, and her hair falls in ripples over shoulders, sleek in nature. She doesn’t walk but rather glides, grace etched within her very bones. She carries herself with confidence, shoulders back, head up. Elegance isn’t extravagant, over the top or gaudy; but rather simple, refined and polished.
Elegance is often confused with Beauty, but Beauty is the high school prom queen who hasn’t accomplished anything with her life. Elegance is so much more than that. Elegance is the first person you notice, head bent over desk, working hard. She is the one who turns off the lights as she walks out, who uses hard work to get where she wants in life. Elegance isn’t directly in the spotlight, she leaves that to Vanity. She’s content with being in the shadows, though she doesn’t stay there for long.
Elegance loves the the idea of courtship; men bringing ladies flowers and singing a ballad proclaiming their love. She loves when he walks her to the door, giving her a chaste kiss against the cheek. Or having a gentlemen hold the door for her. Elegance appreciates the romance, but knows there is more to life than getting a man.
