Constellations
The lights get darker. The melody at the piano starts slowly. His voice joins the sound of the instrument. His eyes look at the keyboard, without any emotion... Or almost. The eyes were just showing how broken he was from the inside. He was nothing more than sadness. He was nothing more than a broken heart. The fingers were moving without any hesitation. The voice wasn’t shaking. The eyes were not crying :
" - Maybe I’m just crazy, maybe I’m just high. You could kiss my lips a thousand times and they would never dry... ” he sings, moving his head to the right, looking at her. The murdered of his heart.
He wasn’t expecting falling in love when he put his first step in the St Joseph’s Asylum. He wasn’t expecting to feel his heart beating as fast as a car on full speed everytime he was seeing this girl’s smile, he wasn’t epecting to feel those butterflies having a hell of a fight in his stomach everytime she was walking into a room, he asn’t expecting to feel so close to faint everytime she was touching his hand. So many nice feelings that he forgot about the heart being crushed, wrecked, destroyed. He forgot about the pain.
And here he was, sat down at the piano. It was Friday night, Friday night is entertainment night. Friday night is his show time. His time to shine and to prove her that he was the best, that he was better than the guy she chose. The white room was full with old grey chairs, the other patients were sat on them, some were looking at the ceiling, others at the ground, some were making noises, gesticulating, almost falling of their chair. The nurses in their white dresses were chatting quietly in the back. One of them as flirting with a security guard, while his colleague was asleep on a chair. The room was full but also so empty. Those people were empty, without any soul, oh their souls left them long time ago, those hearts were only there to keep them alive, they were not producing any love anymore, they were all shattered.
His heart, her heart, were beating at the same time, following the rythm of the melody. She was standing against the wall, her short brown hair were curly because of the shower that happened before the show. Her skin was so pale, her eyes were so green, her lips were so pink. She wasn’t moving, she is just looking at the man on the piano, thinking about the man she left him for. He was the new doctor in the asylum, Italian, tanned, muscly, hairspray in the hair. Was he a good man ? Was he a good choice ? She didn’t know. But she loved having his attention, she loved being between his fingers, she loved hearing her name between his lips.
- ” Go on put your arms around me. It’s gonna be different tonight... "
She smiled at him, and the fire of hope was back, burning his entire body. His heart was beating fast, really fast, it was going to pop out at any second. Her heart was beating fast, really fast, it was going to pop out. the room was quiet, only their two heartbeats, in a perfect harmony. Just them.
The big black entrance door opened suddenly. The enemy just came in. Her eyes left his to catch the one of the other man, the handsome Italian guy, the not crazy guy. Her eyes sparkled, her eyes exploded at his sight.
The melody slowed down, the voice disapeared, and his heartbeat went quiet. He was now just another empty soul with a shattered heart.
