IN THE BEGINNING
There are stereotypes in every school. But my school is a little bit different... lets just say the usual Jocks and Populars aren’t just evil... they’re demonic, wicked, dark-hearted, malicious, foul, soul-sucking bitches.
You may think ‘they can’t be that bad’, whatever image you conjured by me using these adjectives to describe them, screw it because they’re way worse.
They’re soul purpose is to humiliate the lower-rank pupils, well me, and any nerdy, anime-loving bookworm, essentially anyone whose smarter than they are, which is my whole clique. They call us DA Geeks, which is for Diamond Academy, a school for the rich. Well they are one or two with scholarships but they are victims to worst torment.
Sometimes we joke that we’re Dombledore’s Army just for the fun of it but I bet the Populars doesn’t even know who Dombledore is or even read a book thicker than amagazine.
“Earth to Andrea!” my friend Liza screams snapping her fingers in my face to get my attention.
“What?”
“You checked out again. Anyway I need you to come over to my house, I need help with my history paper on American Constitution.” Liza is a cute blond with curly hair and blue eyes your dream blond-girlfriend she could’ve been a popular. Actually when she transferred to this school last year she was the talk of the school ‘Hot new girl’ but when they saw she wasn’t they’re usual dumb-blond (that’s what usually makes up the Populars) they dropped her. We picked her up. Now she’s a proud member of the DA Geeks.
“Why do you need help with History, it’s super easy,” I said taking my lunch from the nice lunch lady whose smiled brightened when she saw me. I muttered a thank you.
“Well I was too distracted staring at the back of Oliver’s head and having wet daydreams. So, I really didn’t get the shit that came out of Mr Winter’s mouth,” she scrunched up her nose eyeing the mystery meat on her tray.
“Oliver doesn’t even know your name. let me rephrase that he doesn’t breathe the same air as you. Why are you wasting your time?”
She narrowed her eyes, “Thanks for reminding me, Andy.”
I rolled my eyes and that’s when Alex plopped down across from us. “How are you gorgeous ladies doing on this fine day.”
“What got you so sunny?” Liza asked.
He grinned “Sam said hi to me in the hallway.” He said bouncing on his seat. I gave him a deadpanned look. Alex is your usual nerd. Dark hair, thick glasses and a GPA so high he could be Einstein. Alex is olive toned with light freckles atop his nose, he is adorable and totally sweet any girl will be lucky to have him, too bad he’s like a brother to me.
“Dude, the girl’s looney. She literally put weed in the school air-vents and then broadcast that its now a ’High school, can’t get crazier than that.” Liza said.
His grin didn’t falter, “So, she was probably high herself and... she’s hot.”
“That doesn’t give her the right to-”
I felt something vibrate against my thigh. I shoved my hand in my jeans pocket for my phone. Without checking the caller ID I answered, “Yellow”.
“Andy!”
I flinched, “Yes mom?”
“Don’t forget you have an appointment after school with Dr Renold.”
“How can I forget, he’s the pain of my existence.”
“He’s the reason I haven’t shipped you off to Califonia so your father to deal with your problems,” she scolded.
“Wow. I can practically feel the love all the way over here.”
“Don’t sass me, Andy. And if I hear you’re late consider yourself grounded.”
I rolled my eyes and hanged up. My mom is a big fashion designer, she’s barely home because of the fashion shows and designs she is planning to spend time with her kids. Sometimes I even think she deliberately stays away to spend time with her new fiancé Harry who owns a fashion school in Arizona. But on the real, I think he’s gay.
The bell ringed and I gathered my stuff for my next class.
The cool air was felt like heaven on my sweaty skin as I headed for Dr Renoald’s office. The door creaked open. This shit needs oil.
I arched an eyebrow when I saw three kids from my school siting on Dr Renold’s leather coach around a small coffee table with outdatedPeople’smagazines. They were all from DA Geeks so I recognized them.
“Finally. You’re here.” Dr Renoald said in his cheery voice. He gestured for me to sit. I slid in the seat beside a girl with a scowl on her face. I’ve seen her around school but don’t really know her name.
“So... I have been seeing you all separately. For your difFerent... disorders.”
Lets get one thing straight. I am not Anti-social. My mom thinks I’m anti-social because I have never mentioned any friends or never brought home any. But she haven’t been home to see that I do bring home friends... well friend, only Liza. And when she brings home her friends’ children I don’t speak to them.
Who would? they’re all prissy, arrogant asses. So she thought a shrink is what I needed.
Dr Renoald continued, “So I have come up with a notion that if I put you four together, socialize a bit it might help solve your individual problems. Because ya’ll might feel comfortable talking to your peers.” I peered at the others who all looked that their rather be far away from here.
Dr Renold grinned, “Right lets get to introductions. This is Jordan Romany.” He pointed to a pretty brunette, whose inattentive, staring straight ahead as if in deep thought. I recognized her instantly last year Jordan tried out for the girls cheer team. The captain Amelia (whose apart of the Populars) accepted her but for a totally different reason, not for her skills but to pull a prank. They put tampons smeared in ketchup and stuff dozens of them in her locker. When she opened in it sprawled on the floor. It was really bad. They took pictures and it spiraled around Diamond Academy’s website and twitter for weeks. Jordan went missing from school for a month. Many rumors suggested she killed herself of embarrassment. But she reappeared eventually. But no one could forget the great ‘Tampon Travesty.’
“Hayley Marshall.” she’s a pretty Latino, blonde, best friend’s with the troublemaker Sam. Olive-toned. she was an accomplice to most of Sam’s pranks. Hacking into the security cameras in school, and changing her grade to an A after failing horribly in French. I remembered her because of the incident with Quaterback Reece. Totally humiliated her in front of his team, made her come off as a slut. Sending her nudes to his teammates, eventually it went around the school. She hacked into the site that it was posted on and had it deleted but damage has been done.
Next, “Thea Valentine.” She is the prettiest girl in school. She could’ve been a popular but again she has a GPA higher than the Populars put together. So she didn’t make the cut, that’s what the populars have been telling everyone, but I think they were rejected big time on their offer for Thea to join. She was toned, the figure like no other. She works at a gym after school as a personal trainer. All the guys wanted to hit that. But couldn’t because she is in fact a DA Geek. She doesn’t really have a story, never been humiliated by the poplars because whatever they throw at her she throws back. Nobody messes with Thea. She’s a brunnete, but have wicked dimples kinda throws off her badass vibe just a liitle bit, but she’s still intimidating.
“And this is Andrea Carson,” he gestured towards me. All heads turned to me. I could feel the other girls scrutinizing me. “I’ll let you all continue from there.” Then he left leaving a trail of silence.
I looked across the table at Hayley and Jordan, who also was glancing at eachother hesitantly. Thea was busy examining her fingernails to realize the tension.
“So...” Jordan trailed off. “What you want to talk about?”
I caught Hayley’s eye, but she looked away immediately.Okay?
“Um... so what are your skills?” I said breaking the silence. Jordan cocked an eyebrow unsurely. “You’re apart of the DA Geeks, right? So whats your skill?”
She chuckled, “Science. I’m a bit of a science prodigy.”
“Really? I suck in any think involving science,” Hayley piped in.
“What about you?” Thea asked.
I was caught of guard. I’ve never heard her voice before. Never expected it to be so sweet, harmless. Her whole persona screams ‘Mess with me, I’ll beat you’re ass’. “I’m a bit of a math freak.”
“Nice. Engineering I could assemble and reassemble any vehicle,” Thea shared. All our eyes widened.Damn.
A phone pinged. Hayley looked at the message her eyes widened and she shook her head in disgust. “Something wrong?′ I asked and she nodded and gestured for everyone to gather around to see the message.
It was video of Peter- a DA Geek member being bullied by the Jocks. They dipped his head into a toilet and physical abused him. and left him on the field in the scorching sun with his face beaten and bloody. Probably provoked one of those idiots. my fists clenched. I hate how the jocks think they can abuse people and get away with it. The others girls seem to hate it too because they all looked murderous.
Thea said, “I want to get back at them.”
Hayley’s head snapped up, her eyes narrowed, “As much as I want revenge too. That’s impossible. The whole schools is on the side of the Populars.”
“She’s right.” Jordan said with a frown.
“But we cant sit around while they bully people. They framed you” she pointed at Hayley whose head hung in shame, “They humiliated you.” She pointed at Jordan, “Are we gonna accept that?”
“But how?” I asked.
“We do to them what they did to us. Take away what they love. Humiliate them. We go after them one-by-one.”
“Like a Hitlist?” Hayley asked
“Exactly. Amelia pranked you, right?” Jordan nodded, “well we get her back, we take away the one thing she loves. Authority. Get her kicked off the team or something-”
“Not just Amelia everyone of the Populars,” I concluded. I couldn’t stop the smirk, “I’m in.”
Thea grinned and cocked an eyebrow at Hayley. She nodded, “I’m in.”
We all looked at Jordan who still was hesitant. “Remember all the shitty stuff she did to you last year, you want this,” I said.
she bit her lip nervously, “What if we get caught?”
“We go down as a team. But if the Populars have never been expelled for the shit they do, why would we?” Thea was right they have been bullying for years nobody have told because they’re scared of them. She still looked unsure, but with a shaky voice she said, “fine. I’m in.”
“But we might need a mastermind of pranks. Sam’ll be interested. She’d be a great asset.” Hayley suggested.
“The more the merrier.”
And that was the start of our Highshool Hitlist.
Watchout Populars because we’re coming for you one-by-one.
