Chapter 1

Meagan

I was awoken by the bright light shining through my window. I groaned when the realization dawned on me that today was the day, the day that I was gonna make my first appearance at my new school. After a few seconds, I decided that is was time to get out of bed.

Letting the scorching water devour my body I began to get a bit anxious. What if no one liked me? What if I made a bad impression on the teachers? I quickly turned the water off and put my hands out on the wall in front of me, leaning over and taking a few deep breaths.

While stepping out of the shower I grabbed two towels and wrapped one in my hair and one around my body. After securing the towel in place I opened the door and walked into my bedroom. Careful not to slip on the hardwood I took small, cautious steps over to my vanity. Around the edges of the mirror were pictures of my parents and I, along with a few of me at my dance recitals. I combed through my wet hair and inhaled the scent of kiwi. I then began to blow dry and style my platinum blonde hair with beautiful loose waves.

Once I was content with my hair I strutted towards my closet and gathered up my already picked outfit. It was a stunning navy blue dress with a gold neckline paired with gold heels that add only a little more height to my already taller 5’8 frame. I took another onceover in the mirror feeling comfortable with the image reflecting back. I stepped into my big red chevy truck that awaited in my driveway. I placed my bag in the front passenger seat and took off down the road.

When I finally make it to the school, I’m in awe. The school is so big, so different from my previous one. The parking lot is huge, but packed with so many cars. Finding a parking spot seems to be an impossible job, but I seem to accomplish the it in a reasonable amount of time.

As I was walking through the hall with my head down I couldn’t help but notice the silence with a few dull whispers and the stares that were burning my skin like fire. I reached my hand up to my face, feeling the heat creep into my cheeks turning them a rosey pink color. I look up for the slightest second and notice a lot of eyes, some with angry or envious looks, and some filled lustful mischievous ones. I quickly put my head back down occasionally looking up to see where I’m going. Somehow I make it to the counselor’s office avoiding any social contact. I grab my schedule and quickly make my way to my first class of the day.

As soon as I walk in the curious eyes find me and they don’t let me go for quite a while. But one pair of eyes catch my attention. They were a breathtakingly beautiful emerald green. So mesmerizing and captivating they could put you in some sort of trance. He had tanned skin, and brown disheveled hair. I only spend about a second taking in his appearance, and then I make my way to the lonesome seat in the back. Well it was lonesome, until an innocent but undoubtedly very attractive guy comes and plops down right beside me. For a while he doesn’t say anything, just stares straight ahead. I on the other hand have probably the stupidest look on my face staring right at him. After a couple for seconds he just can’t hold it in anymore and I can see the corner of his mouth turn upwards into a smirk that he was obviously trying - but failing - to suppress.

“If you keep making that face it’ll freeze that way,” he says with an arched eyebrow clearly amused by this whole situation. I roll my eyes and look back up to the front of the classroom. “I’m Noah.” “ Meagan,” I reply flatly still looking to the front.

“I think we’re gonna have a lot of fun this year Megan.”
