MO BAO SHEN P.O.V

I ran inside my house and shut myself in my room. I didn’t bother to change out of my school uniform as I quickly turned on my laptop. Today was the day that the final chapter of The Immortal Emperor’s Wife will be released. I’ll finally get to know if the MC and the ML will be together forever and see how the story ends.

I’ve been following the web novel - The Immortal Emperor’s Wife - ever since its release 2 years ago. The author is named LAZY and at first, I thought he didn’t fit that pen name as he’s been updating his story every single day. The Immortal Emperor’s Wife is the only story he has ever written so far. I don’t know if he’ll ever write another.

Anyway, the web novel is very popular on the internet; garnering at least over a million readers and followers. I’m a big fan of his story and I admit I’ll miss reading it a lot once I’m done reading through the last chapter.

What is the Immortal Emperor’s Wife about you may ask? Well, it is a story which is set in a fantasy medieval era which follows the tales of a 16-year-old girl who had to take up the throne at a young age when her father, the emperor died. Her name is Shi Hua. She wasn’t of royal blood but rather was adopted by the King of the Purple Kingdom. At the day before his passing, he announced that Shi Hua would become his successor as she was one of the few people he trusted to uphold his ideals and was the only child he had, but Shi Hua however didn’t want the throne and instead, sought to venture beyond the walls of her kingdom to see what the world had to offer. So one day, Shi Hua concocted an idea and snuck away from the kingdom, deciding to follow what her father once taught her and pave her own way... Somehow.

Unfortunately for Shi Hua, despite her kind-nature, she was still a sheltered girl and while she was fairly clever, that wasn’t exactly enough to net her shelter and food to survive the night, so she decided to visit one of the more closer neighbouring provinces and hope for the best- her first stop was the Black Kingdom (Yes, LAZY — like his name suggest — is lazy in regards to naming kingdoms and other things so he decided to name them by colours). Along the way however, she eventually met her fated one, Xia Wu Da who is revealed to actually be the emperor of the Silver Kingdom but due to some unknown reason, he was now in the Black Kingdom, critically injured. Shi Hua treated his wounds and that’s when their relationship began. Soon after this, it was revealed that a great war which would decide the ultimate fate of the world and its inhabitants was foretold and that the reason Xia Wu Da was away from his kingdom is because he seeks to unite the rest of the provinces in order to fight back against whoever was this “prophetic enemy” that is capable of threatening the stability of the world, but Xia Wu Da was but one man and without any companions to help him along, he would surely fail. So, Shi Hua, thrilled at the prospect of an exciting adventure, requested to accompany Xia Wu Da in his quest to prepare the kingdoms for such an event whilst keeping her identity a secret.

Years passed since then, and after adventuring and succeeding in uniting most of the provinces the Purple Kingdom was the last nation that Shi Hua, Xia Wu Da and his party had to form an alliance with. The date of the prophetic war was near and they could no longer afford to wait any longer. There companions however were very hesitant in accompanying them. The reason for this was because the Purple Kingdom turned out to hold a fearsome reputation as one of- if not the most powerful kingdom there was, and though to having intentionally isolating themselves from the rest of the continent, not much is known about them other than that they practice forbidden magic. Heck! Though to how lacking information about them was, it was even rumored that their citizens are nearly equal to hard-boiled veterans of war.

But Xia Wu Da did not fear them, for fear was not something he could afford when it could quite literally cost the loss of innumerable amount of lives, so using his natural ability as a leader, he talked about the lives that would be lost, preached about the lives that relied on them and told of how the fate of the future generation rest on their shoulder.

Basically, the cliché speech about heroism and honor, but hey! It worked so you can’t complain about the results it brings.

Long story short, Xia Wu Da found out about Shi Hua’s identity while they were making an alliance with the Purple Kingdom, but this didn’t stop him from loving her. This caused the fans to celebrate after 2 years of frustratingly waiting to see if the Silver Emperor would still like her after knowing her identity and for being deceived. The alliance with an incredibly dangerous super-power was all but assured now that their empress has returned and is now the lover of both a foreign leader and a hero.

The final arc of the story is about the war and its conclusion. After waiting for so long, it will be revealed today – the 5000th chapter!

I excitedly opened the web page and began reading it. Soon my giddy mood turned darker and darker the further I read through the chapter and when I finally finished it, my room essentially erupted into a pandemonium. “WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!!” I screeched as I started thrashing around my room. I wanted to scream as loud as I possibly could, to punch my laptop, break it apart and melt it down with absolute vehemence to show the world just how angry I was. “How dare he!!!! Why did you kill her off!!!!! And why did you end the story with the emperor falling in love with another woman? You devil author!!!”

I scrolled through the comments section and sure enough, everyone was in rage. I decided to participate, hoping that the author will change the ending, but after a few minutes, a notification came up from the author saying,

Sorry, my lovely readers. I won’t be changing the ending. Too lazy.

The utter lack of noise which descended on my room was so silent, you could quite literally hear a mosquito cough.

Lazy my bum! I was angry so I replied to his notification, demanding that he change the ending. But it was for naught as LAZY went offline. I shut my laptop with a loud PACK! And angrily lied on my bed. “ARGHHH” Once more, I thrashed around my bed in frenzy, only calming down after an hour of venting my frustration. “I followed the story for 2 years and this is what I get! I wasted 2 years of my life just to get this ridiculous ending!! I hate you. I hate you so much, LAZY!!!”

After raging for some more, I felt exhausted and fell asleep with my uniform still on.

...

“Is my child okay?”

“Do not worry, your majesty. She just had a slight fever.”

“A slight fever? Her temperature is like fire!”

“Huh? What... What is all that noise about?” I wondered to myself as I slowly cracked open my eyes. For some reason, my vision was incredibly hazy- almost like I just regained consciousness after just getting knocked out, the throbbing headache which soon came after I tried to stand up only served to lend further credit to this assumption.

Owww, my head...

“My child, you are awake!”

It looks like I accidentally groaned out loud cause I seem to have drawn the attention of whoever this mysterious speaker was. Blinking rapidly to refocus my vision, I nearly jumped in shock when I saw an incredibly handsome man who looked very relieved for some reason, greeted my view.

Acting like any other normal person placed in this scenario, I immediately tried to scream for help, convinced that I’m being invaded by a thief but all that came out of my mouth instead was a choked wheeze that made me realize I was incredibly thirsty for some reason- like I’ve just done a full-day marathon on a scorching desert.

Noticing what the desperate pawing on my throat meant immediately, the handsome guy ordered the maid that was beside him to bring a full glass of water before turning back to me. “Can you sit up, my child?” He asked, his voice full of fatherly concern which honestly confused me. Why is he acting like I’m his daughter for some reason?

My child? He’s been calling me that for a while now. Why? I slowly sat up and leaned my back against the headboard. Soon, the maid came back and gave a glass full of water which I began to greedily gulp down to ease the uncomfortable dryness on my throat. Giving the empty glass back to the maid - who bowed respectfully after which somehow left me even MORE uncomfortable than before - I began to observe my surroundings which left me dumbstruck in awe when I found out that I wasn’t in my room anymore and was instead inside an incredibly lavish room filled with expensive decor. What is this place? Where am I? Who in the world are these people?

Suddenly, I felt a painful headache starting to form on my head and unknown memories began flowing into my head. After the headache finally subsided, I was incredibly shocked at what I’ve just learned.

“I’ve been transmigrated!!!” I thought as I grew paler from the sheer implication alone. The person in front of me seemed to notice the sudden change in my expression and began to get visibly worried.

“What’s wrong my child? Are you still feeling sick? Sleep some more. I will come back later and eat with you alright?” He smiled at me while gently stroking my silver hair in comfort.

What’s wrong? What’s wrong!? This... This man is Li Xian Ra - a handsome, fictional man who exist within the “Immortal Emperor’s Wife” novel who is now no less real than me who now inhabits the body of the Female Lead, Shi Hua. That’s what’s wrong!

I should be panicking right now, shouldn’t I? This...This entire thing should be fictional, transmigration isn’t supposed to be real, it’s supposed to be a genre of how a real life character gets reincarnated into another world! Why did I transmigrate? Is this the author’s doing? Did he feel my hatred and somehow sent me into this world? But for what? And how? Whatever, it doesn’t matter anymore. I am Shi Hua and since I’m in her body, I’ll strive for a different ending than the one from the novel. An ending that everyone will like! So, with my newfound determination, I let sleep claim me.

(E/N: That was too close for comfort! Hehehe...)
