Prologue

This is a magical world. One day, someone was born with an ability to fly. A few years later, another person was born with wings. This continued happening to other people. Some people have different animal parts, some have parts or abilities of yokai, or of different mythical creatures.

Normally this would result in them being worshiped, or treated like normal people. Sadly, that's just fantasy. In our reality, the normal people want everything to stay normal. They fear change. They bully and abuse these special people. These magical humans don't have an official name. There are many names for them. Spirits, kami, freaks, monsters. For these segments, we will call them spirits.

Certain items have been made intertwined with magic. These items are called concealers. They served the purpose of hiding the magical features of spirits. It was very rare to see someone with magical features, even if they were a spirit. No one knows who invented the original one, so they managed to recreate them.

With spirits being so feared, why don't people fear being with one that just uses a concealer? This doesn't happen in real life though. This is because through lots of training you can become a spirit senser. These people train to enhance natural spiritual power in themselves. You can call one to come to your house, or go to their business area if you suspect your friend is a spirit.

We've been talking for awhile. I agree. So now, lets begin Concealing Magic.

Hello, my name is Fall. I live in a two room dorm with my roommate, Slate. It's both our 3rd year of collage. We've been roommates for three years.

"Hey, are you going to class?" Slate says while half-asleep in her bed

"No. It's only 7:45" I say correcting her, "I'm getting ready for my 8 o'clock class."

"Ugh... Ok" She falls straight off of her own bed. I let out a small chuckle. I move over to help her get off the ground. She should be awake now.

"Well. Let me remind you about your 9 o'clock class before I leave." I put on my poncho. No, not the rainy one, the sweater kind. It's a turtleneck. I put on my hair clip in the back of my black hair, and poof, my 2 fox ears and 3 fox tails disappear. If your wondering why me and my roommate are fine about this, there's a special way this school groups roommates. We have to take a spirit senser test to determine if we are a spirit. The result is not released to the public. They then group you with someone of your "Kind" to be with. This happens so less bulling occurs in the school. As for what Slate's magical features are, I have no idea. She hasn't shown me yet. I don't know what her concealer looks like as well, but she doesn't take it off for any reason.

I finally arrive at the main buildings. I'm taking poetry, and I still have no idea what Slate takes. I really don't know much about her, huh. I go into my class and start school.

Silver's Second Chance

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
