Chapter 1 - Beginnings
8-year-old Gray was playing with his friends in the garden one evening while his father tended to the plants, a man runs past the house yelling “Raiders! Raiders are coming!”. Grays father looks at the path afar and sees horsemen and robbers racing towards them, the parents of his friends’ rush to retrieve them and Grays mother comes into the garden and tells his father to take Gray out of the village. Gray looks at his parents as they fight about who should take him out of the village, he tells them both to take him out of the village.
His parents take him out of the village and into the woods, his father tells him to wait here and he puts his necklace on Gray. Gray wonders where his parents went and follows them, once he reaches the village he sees it burnt down. He can’t see his parents anywhere, his house is on fire and he hears screams everywhere. Dozens of people dead or burning or about to die, then a raider spots him and starts running to him with a dagger in his hand, but a hooded figure takes him and runs into the forest.
Gray tries to free himself as tears run down his face, the hooded figure holds on to him tight as he brings him to some ruins. “W-who are you?! What did you do to my parents! To my friends?!” exclaimed Gray, “Calm down, You’re safe now.” Said the hooded figure. “Show me where my parents are! Tell me you saved them too!” yelled gray to which the man replied “… I’m sorry…”
