Prologue

I couldn't see anything, the smoke is so thick in my room. It threw me into a fit of hard coughing that shook my whole body and left me weak. That's it. I thought to myself, I'm going to die.

My eyes skimmed the room, trying to find mommy or Jacob "Jakeeeeyyyy" I screamed in terror. I just wanted to wake up from this nightmare. I called my mother and brother again, trying to overcome the roar of the fire with my screams, but they never came.

I don't know why I couldn't see mom at all, she was here a while ago, telling me a story about this branch in a tree. I sat sometimes more in the corner, trying to think of something. C'mon Rosaline, there must be a way to get out of your room or you will be fried chicken! Well, thank you myself for reminding me that I will die!

I threw my head back and looked at the ceiling, trying to think of a way out of my room. My eyes landed on the rope ladder my brother and I fastened in my room a year ago. Wasting no time, I jumped up taking hold of one of the bars. It was a very simple rope ladder, but we sprayed it so it matched my room theme. I continued along the rope like a monkey, and when I reached the door I leaped down taking hold of the door handle, opening the door and hurried outside to the floral garden in our backyard.

When I saw the house burning, my body rocked with suffocating sobs, trying to convince myself that mommy will wake me up, hugging me and telling me that it's just a nightmare. I waited till I lost hope because mommy never came. It never happened.

"Jacob!" I screamed. "Jacob please come play with me."...no answer "I'm scared" I whispered. I stood there, looking at the fire swallowing my house, then I realized it didn't ruin it. My eyes widened, the fire is not affecting the bricks! No smears of black or on the walls, only smoke and heat.

By now, I was crying so hard, tears streaming down my face and blinding me. I was about to drift into lala-land, then hands clasped around my wrist and I was dragged from behind. I tried to free myself from the stranger. "Rose it's me. Just run" I smiled at the sound of my brother and ran.

Looking over at my brother, I realized the tears sliding down his cheeks. He gave me a small smile "Don't worry Rosaline, I will always come play with you" he told me. "You promise?" I asked, "Yes I promise". We went back to running down the street.

When we approached the forest, we were both gasping hard, trying to catch our breath. The moment we set foot there I collapsed, and Jake caught me in his arms. Everything that happened got registered in my mind, it was too much, "Don't worry Rose, I will keep you safe" that was the last thing I heard before the darkness swallowed me whole.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
