Chapter 1
Melody’s POV
I remember when life was easy, when I could hear. I remember the last thing i ever heard was my mom telling how much she loved me and to be strong. Today is the first day of my senior, my name is Melody Smith, I’m 16 years old. I have 2 older brother named Liam and Luca. Liam is in college and is 20 yrs old and Luca is 18 also in his senior year with me. Although this year will be the first year that we don’t have every class together. My dad’s name is Jonathan, he has been great dad specially since the accident where I lost my mom and my hearing. We all learned sign language to communicate since I don’t feel comfortable talking anymore. I better get ready for school, don’t want to be late.
When I finished getting ready I went downstairs where I saw my dad making my favorite breakfast.
“Good morning sweetie, how did you sleep?” my dad sign when he saw me.
“Morning dad, slept well. How about you?” I sign back.
“Good. Want to come over to my office after school? I could use your help interviewing somebody.” Dad sign to me.
“Sure, I’ll be there at 3. What time is the interview?” I sign.
“At 3:15.” He sign.
“Great. Now let’s have some breakfast I’m starving.” I sign.
“Alright.” He replied.
We went to the dinning room where my brothers were hogging the food. When they saw me they both sign good morning. I sat and started eating my pancakes, eggs and bacon. When I was done with breakfast, I washed my dish and when to grab my stuff. I went to get Luca to leave for school.
“Luca, are you ready to leave?” I sign.
“Yeah, let me grab my bag” he sign to me.
“Bye dad, Bye Liam.” I said when Luca came back and we went to his car.
Are you ready for school?” Luca ask me.
“Not, really.” i replied. We were talking since he was driving.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.” He said.
“Ok.” I told him.
When we got to school, Luca and me met up with Wesley and Buttercup and everyone was saying that they are three new kids. Just great I thought.
“I don’t want the new kids to know I’m deaf.” I signed to them.
We won’t say anything but what about everyone in school?” Buttercup sign.
They won’t dare say nothing to me, I doubt they’ll mention it to them” I sign
Both Luca and Wesley agreed that they won’t say anything. To be honest I’m terrified that Luca won’t be with me when I need him, like the other years.
