Summary

"She was a girl, He was a boy, can I make it any more obvious?"- Avril Lavigne. Song: Sk8er Boi What do you want to be when you grow up? A common question asked by many parents to their kids and their kids usually answer like this: "I wanna be a princess" or "I wanna be an actor/actress" or "I wanna be an artist" and even something stupid like "I wanna be a horse" and at five it would be excitable. Your parents will smile and be like "You can be anything dear" but as time goes on and you get older, it's not ok. You get told "You will never make it", "You won't make enough money" "That's stupid", "No, you will become a doctor" and others just ignore that we have a passion and say "You will take on a scientist or a cop like you are supposed too". Well, that's my parents say.

Part 1

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A common question asked by many parents to their kids and their kids usually answer like this:

“I wanna be a princess” or “I wanna be an actor/actress” or “I wanna be an artist” and even something stupid like “I wanna be a horse” and at five it would be excitable. Your parents will smile and be like “You can be anything dear” but as time goes on and you get older, it’s not ok. You get told “You will never make it”, “You won’t make enough money” “That’s stupid”, “No, you will become a doctor” and others just ignore that we have a passion and say “You will take on a scientist or a cop like you are supposed too”. Well, that’s my parents say.

They don’t care that my brother, Tyson wants to be pro soccer player. He loves soccer he has been playing it since we were four. The only reason that Tyson could play was because our father, Thomas said

“It will make him stronger and more stable to be a good cop. Like me”

My other brother, Tobias was more of a reader and wanted to be an author. My mother loved this, she said that it was because he would become a good scientist like her.

We also had my little brother, Titus that is seven and a half and was wanting to become a master Lego builder but he was seven and a half so it was excitable. For now, until he is ten and he isn’t allowed to dream anymore.

What about the baby inside my mother stomach you ask? Well he or she is still growing so we don’t know yet but I bet he or she will become either a cop or a scientist.

And me, Tatum? Well, I was more into the arts but my mother won’t take any of that so she has me reading books about becoming a doctor. She would rather me become a scientist like her but I have told her many time that I did not interest me like she wanted it to so she gave ten books about becoming a doctor on our tenth birthday.

Why do I say our tenth birthday, you ask? Well, Tyson, Tobias and I came out as curly black-haired, with beige half white-half black skin and hazel eyes are triplets. Yes, we are seventeen-year-old triplets living in a house of nightmares.

Ok! OK! It’s not all bad, I can admit I can be a little bit dramatic.

I DO have loving parents and three, soon to be four loving siblings, and I wouldn’t dream of it any other way but I would be nice to have some support on my dreams from my parents and not always from my siblings.

I think that is what a best friend if for though. If your parents aren’t that supportive and your sibling doesn’t want to hear you complain again you call your best friend or best friends in my case as that I have more than one, and if I told them what I told them last week they would try and kill me again. I told them that not only that I want to own a donut store if my acting career didn’t work out for the hundred time, I told them that:

“Isn’t weird that I have three best friends but the whole point of a best friend as that one of your best friend was a little bit better than the other friends”

It was clear to say that my three best friends, were ready to kill me after that. I got yelled at for an hour after that...

I walked over my Mac computer and opened up well sitting on my spinny chair and skyped my first best friend, since kindergarten, Dash.

Dash is eighteen years old an African-Canadian, with black cornrows in a man bun with freckles all over his nose and cheeks and dark brown eyes. He was tall, like taller than my 5,7 ft. He was like 6,1 ft.

It ringed two times and he answered

“Hey beauty,” he said, “Have you called everyone else?” He asked smiling at me with his braces smile.

“No, I’m about too though” I replied smiling back at him. He could make anyone smile.

I started to call my best friend since grade three, Poet.

Poet is short, 5,2 ft, seventeen-year-old beautiful white girl with light green eyes and beautiful red hair all most like poison ivy but darker. She also has freckles, but all over her face and on her body. She always wears her hair like poison ivy. Poet claims that she doesn’t know who she is but I saw her comics at her house. I will keep it to myself, for now.

Her eldest sister, Paige picks up Skype and Poet was seen dancing in her room with headphones on.

“YO! POET! Your friend is on Skype!” Paige yelled and left the room.

“Hello, friend!” Poet said sitting in her sister’s place.

“Hello, Dash! Nice to see you!” She said and Dash laughed

“Nice dancing” Dash laughed out

Poet smiled and said “Thank you”One of many great things about Poet is that she is always nice no matter what, even if she is embarrassed or mad. She keeps positive in a negative situation.

“Alright, one more,” I said and called the latest addition to the family, Coven

Coven is a short, 5,5 ft, sixteen-year-old Korean with light brown hair and glasses over his dark almost black, brown eyes. Coven is a smart kid. He already has the colleges buzzing and he still has one year left of high school. We meet Coven when we were in grade six when it was a grade five/six split. He was a grade five. His parents want him to become a doctor and he is cool with that. That is something that he wants. It was something he wanted before they addressed their thoughts to him.

“Hello everyone” Coven said

“What’s up Cove,” Dash said and I could hear them talk in the background

“Why did you call, Tate?” Poet asked me

“I found something” I replied back

They all went silent and stared at me.

“I found this little store for rent once a month for one hundred and twenty dollars. I am going to buy it” I said smiling

My family isn’t rich but we aren’t poor either.

When my brothers and I were born my parents gave us each 1 thousand dollars in the bank and added 1 hundred once a year. They are doing the same for Titus and they are staring it for the new baby of the family soon. Most of this is for college but we can use it for one thing that we REALLY want, they have to make sure it is something that we want and they will get it for us. No regrets afterward, they would say.

“Have you talked to your parent’s beauty?” Dash asked

“Yeah, I asked this morning,” I said

“They said yes!” I said jumping up, excited.
