Prologue
In a small city of various buildings stands a house with a supported porch. It was built on a block not far from a woodlands. The outside walls of the house is painted a pale white. The fence on the edge of the porch is made from birch wood. Inside the house are four bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, as well as a living room. In one bedroom a bed with a heavy yellow blanket with a pillow on it. The bed by the corner of the room. By the bed is a stand with a lamp plugged into the wall. On the far side of the room a dresser sits covering the bottom half of a window. In another room a bed with a heavy blue blanket with a sheet covered pillow sits by the wall closest to the window on the side of the wall farthest away from the door. The bed has a stand by it. At the end of the bed is a dresser. Another room is empty. The third room has a bed with a light weight blanket covering it. A second blanket is used as a pillow. This room is in the attic of the house. The fourth room has a bed with a heavy ocean blue blanket with a sheeted pillow. It sits by the far wall with a stand beside it. The stand has a lamp hooked to it. In the attic a teen sits at an old styled school desk.
This teen is Jason Lacova. He lives in this house with his father Jake Lacova, and his sister Sarah Lacova. Jason has been living in this house since his mother left the family after Jason was born. Jake has and does show a disliking for Jason since the day the woman left the family. He blamed the woman leaving on Jason. It was because of this Jason became the target of the man whenever Jake was angry. Years of abuse passed. Jason found clever ways to conceal his bruises so no one would look at him differently.
Though everything seemed to change in his Ninth Grade year. One day he’d been injured during the abuse he’d been forced to suffer. The injury was made evident when Jason collapsed during gym class. His fellow students checked him to see if he was alright and discovered not only the injury but older bruises as well. It was all brought to the police. Jason came up with a cover story in fear of what might happen to him if he said what actually happened. In this cover story he’d stated that he’d been attacked by a group of masked people.
He was sent to a doctor by the name of Lionel Whyterain. The doctor gave him medicine to help his injuries heal. The man had also given him a shot which was put in the back of Jason’s neck. The doctor told him the shot would help him recover quicker for the next few weeks if he were to get attacked again. Unknown to Jason the shot also included a strange nanochip which worked its way to Jason’s brain.
That day Jason went home where he’d suffered through a barrage of attacks from Jake for allowing the injuries to show. That night Jason would choose to go without food. As he’d been attending school he’d discovered that the things he’d been forced to suffer through are wrong. He’d never given thought to the idea of leaving until the injury he’d sustained from the abuse. As he sits at the desk he works on his homework while pondering ways of escaping the house.
The teen knows that he would have to find way out of the house without waking his sister or his father. Escaping would be difficult considering his father doesn’t actually go to sleep until Eleven o’ clock sharp.
Jason had decided to wait until two o’ clock in the morning to escape. While looking through the attic he discovered a flashlight with a dim bulb. He had looked around to see if he could find any light bulbs to replace the one in the flashlight but stopped when he came to the conclusion that a dim flashlight would do the trick.
As he finishes answering the last problems on the paper he folds it in half and places it in a dark red backpack. He stands walking to the only window in the attic. Outside he finds the moon just peering out from a cloud. Moonlight shines into the attic providing a bit of light.
’This is the hour.’ He thinks to himself as he tip toes his way down the steps. Upon reaching he bottom of the steps he slowly opens the door, and slowly. He walks to a door and opens it. He finds a staircase leading down into the basement. As he begins to walk down the basement he closes the door behind him, the moonlight casts a low light upon the basement making everything just barely visible. Unknown to him a silhouette had been standing by the front door of the house.
As he walks down the staircase he hears the door open. Deciding not to take any risks he picks up speed with walking down the steps while making sure to stay silent. As he reaches the bottom of the steps he hears footsteps rushing down the steps. In a panic he runs across the basement until reaching another staircase. He turns just in time to notice a knife. A sharp pain spreads across his his right side with a single cut of the knife. He holds his arm over the cut as he runs up the steps. The figure holding the knife follows suit. Jason stops when reaching a door as the moonlight fades putting the room into blackness. He forces the door open. At an instant a fury of snow hits him causing his skin to sting. The only thing allowing him sight is a distant street light.
He goes to run but is stopped by the figure. Who forces Jason to turn and face it. The man is shown to wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants as well as winter boots. The man delivers a powerful punch to the teen sending him staggering into the snow. The man looks to him sighting that he’d given the teens right eye a black eye. Jason stands shivering from the cold but glaring at the man.
The man walks forward opening. “Now your gonna get it. I gave you that injury as a reminder that I am your father. You answer to me. No one else.”
“No… Your not my father… you never were. I’d rather freeze to death then spend another moment in that hell hole.” Jason retorts readying bracing himself for the attacks to come.
The man raises the knife and swings it creating a cut across the teens chest. This sends Jason staggering backwards. But he manages to hold his ground. Instead of choosing to stay and fight he bolts into the snow fall as it becomes heavier.
