I Am Naive

When I started to comprehend my environment,

When I played my mischiefs,

They all started to believe

I am naive.

After Ma came papa out loud,

The alphabets popped from throat

tongue swirled and danced around

From relations, I found the connection of tongue

Whose farm and whose sand?

Whosever’s buffalo their sticks

Wherever the eyesight would take me

I felt that it belonged to me

Money seemed the reward of hard work,

Food, the solution to my hunger

With a heavy heart,

I quit my mother’s milk

And began the journey

Understanding Algebra’s life.

Absence of turban on father’s head,

A gentle reminder of loss of respect

Convincing mother to fulfil the demands

When naked showers took a back seat

Lungi made sense as a cloth.

Now with denser hair,

I changed sides as per my will

When mother’s arms were not my pillow anymore,

And I started understanding my bowel

I grew taller and older year by year

Mind was shapeshifting now and then,

Leaving my father’s finger halfway through,

I walked, on my feet

I destroyed my mother’s house

As I walked around on my 4 then 2

I stopped crying irrelevantly

And scoldings and love - a difference

I began to understand

A full-grown being with a mercurial mind,

Earth stayed still while I graciously crawled

As I began to feel more and more

The tongue fumbled to pour the words

To stop and admire was not my job,

For I had no sense of the same

3rd Line

Youth began to ask for attention

The Ganges of knowledge had begun to flow,

Childhood innocence- snatched away,

Slowly, the mysteries of reality

Began to make sense

I was a brother of softness,

I was a selfless kind person,

From an abode of adolescence

I began to slip into the swamp of evil.

A door to a new world opened up

It was close to my heart, certainly

I wanted to go closer to it

I was spellbound by it,

and it grew stronger every day.

My conscience was conscious

Naiveness had left ages ago

Distance between both seemed equal,

That’s when sanity seeped within me.
