Summary

“Without sexual feelings or associations.” I whispered to myself. Am I asexual? For a while, I’ve wanted to be gay and I’ve actually considered that I was bisexual, but I wasn’t. But just to be sure, let me take a quiz. The results weren’t was I was expecting. It didn’t say gay, bi, or straight. Instead, there was a word I had never seen before outside of biology. I looked it up. “Without sexual feelings or associations.” I whispered to myself. Am I asexual?

Chapter 1

“So there’s this cute guy.”

“Oh god here we go again.” Emily sighed, “Steph who do you think it is?”

“I don’t know I’ve kinda lost count.”

“Excuse you, I’ve gotten better at it, last year I only liked two guys.”

“Well who is it this year, we’re only one week into school?”

I smiled, “Of course, that’s how it normally is, Trent was the third day of sophomore year. Anyway, in psych, the desks are in pairs and the guy who sits right next to me is super cute.”

“Yes Fran, we know. What’s his name?”

“Tyler.”

“What’s he look like?”

“Brown hair sorta like Justin Bieber, but lighter and not as floppy or fringey. And kinda pale.”

“Meh, he’s okay.” Stephanie shrugged. “I’ll tell you who is smoking hot.” She fanned herself, “Chris Hemsworth! He posted a really hot picture on Instagram this morning.”

“Steph, doesn’t he post a 'really hot picture’ every day?” I made quotations with my fingers. “I don’t see it.”

“Francesca, I swear you’re like the only person in the world who doesn’t think he’s hot, even Emily thinks he’s hot.”

“Speaking of Emily, how’d your date with Margo go?”

“It was fun, she’s not a big roller coaster fan so we rode the high swings a lot and ate cotton candy. She’s coming over for dinner in like a week.”

“Mmmmm, I hope that goes well.” I mumbled through a mouthful of pizza.

“Mmhm,”

“Are you coming out to your mom soon?” Emily shrugged, “Maybe, probably not though, it’s only one more year until New York.”

“I know!” I grabbed their hands.

“I’m so excited!” Stephanie cheered.

“We have to get in first.”

“Even if we don’t get in, we can still move up there and apply again next year. We’re going to New York!”

“Fran, stop screaming, you’re in the cafeteria.” Stephanie laughed.
