"I remember reading this book for the first time when it was just a file on one of dane's thum drives. I didn't want to stop reading it. This book is that good! I decided to reread it again and see if I would still find it interesting. I enjoyed just as much and maybe even a little bit more. I read a lot and finding a book that I can reread over and over is extremely difficult for me. Dane's book is a very rare exception. I am so happy that a book like this existed. Can't get the story out of my head
"There aren't many books that I will take the time to read more than once, but this is one of them. The first time I finished it, the ending had me nearly shouting "No! Why would they do that?! They're so stupid! Where's the sequel?", and then shouting at my phone because the author hasn't released the sequel yet (get on it, dude! Your fans are going to turn rabid!) so I started it over and it was even better the second time. The story is compelling, the characters are well thought out, and the villain (and accompanying monsters) will keep you up at night. It was a fun mixture of historical fiction, sci-fi, action, a dash of romance and horror, and what could almost be all considered fantasy that will appeal to a wide variety of readers. It's a promising start to what I'm sure will be an addictive series."
Worth losing sleep over
"I thoroughly enjoyed this story! You can tell the author had a lot of fun writing it. The villain is brutal and he doesn't pull any punches without being over the top gory (I'd still let my kids read it.) I'm looking forward to the second book!"
